Has anyone seen the benches at the Paul Rodriguez TF thingy? If so where would you get them? Thanks.

No clue what you're talking about... it's not something that can just be built?

i would rather build it myself but have no tools as well as live in an apartment. Not much space to build either...just looking to find a bench similar to the gray wood/plastic in Jayme Fortune's web clips.
Thx.

go find an area of town with a shitload of warehouses. odds are in your favor you will find one of those "butter benches" outside of one. that's how my best friend got not just 1, but 2.

I posted a wanted ad on craigslist for a concrete bus stop style bench and picked one up for free. It just sucked to move 'cause it weighed probably 3 or 400 lbs.

This might have to be something you just take. They're pretty expensive if you were to actually buy one.

^ Goddamn, that's as expensive as Arc prefab shitramps! It would probably be cheaper to just hire a carpenter to build a bench to your specifications matt.
...unless you have some friends with tools & a place you can do some hammering. You could easily build a six foot bench in an hour or two and it would barely cost you anything.

Cities should just buy 2 or 3 of those and a flatbar instead of spending 40 grand making parks like this:

yeah, especially ones from late 90's early 00's , i know a few that have 8 sets with litirally 5 feet of run up, featuring 6 inch tall hubbas that go straight into the ground. The one in Moncton NB has a rail thats the same height as the hubba on the other side. So fucking lame.

yeah i remember a lot of parks like that back in early 2000s that was when the first run of skateparks was done in eastern canada. a lot of fucked up end results. kitchener skatepark has a rail that is about 3 inches high that has probably 3 feet of runway, and is like 30 feet long going down a bank, and its circular.
oh yeah, if you want to build a good box/bench for cheap, heres what i did:
1. steal something for the base. i went to my local petro canada gas station and they have these plastic boxes that were skateable on their own but they were too short, they used them to display things. i took two, they were at the back about to be thrown out.
2. get a piece of angle iron from your local Fastenal or steel super market, measure your two boxes, and get them to cut you the length.
3. get a piece of ply wood for the top so they are linked together
4. use wood in between underneath for support.

My city is throwing money at these things called "skate dots" which sound like a dream come true when you're just talking about it. Essentially, they're talked about like they're gonna build desirable skate-friendly obstacles and scatter them about town. Awesome, right? but then when it comes to breaking the dirt, they build this (the only photo I could find on the googles) a "plaza" which revolves around a 7 stair with an 8 inch tall steep ass granite hubba that they bothered to put granite in (that you can see just to the right of the girl in the photo) that goes straight into a 3ft wall. when grilled, they claim "it was made with younger kids in mind", but honestly I shutter to think about someone just struggling to develop some skill shooting down that hubba or trying to hop down the steps and wrecking their face on the apposing wall. but in their defense, they did build this thing within sight of that other debacle, which is pretty fun

around here there a heap of good ones all over the parks. and you can easily take them out with just a skate tool. they're a little big (probably perfect height for people with skill) and fairly good length, and heavy enough so they don't move around when you skate them. they don't even need wax. my friend took one from a park and we always use to skate it at his house. then i was planning to somehow get two out to my house where our estate has like a tennis court which is perfect to skate. it's never happened but i still plan on doing it. here's a crappy little clip of us skating one we recently unbolted.
http://www.youtube.com/v/gMVfEJKtNrI&rel=1mind you this is in australia, just look in parks or whatever. good luck.
