The province of Nova Scotia has absurd helmet laws, carrying a $140 fine for skateboarding without a helmet, whether on the sidewalk (which also carries a fine) or in a skatepark, or above age 18 or below. The law even affects skaters' auto insurance, with one local threatened to be dropped for multiple helmet fines. Nova Scotia skaters have put together a petition asking to repeal or amend the law.
