ive seen skaters suddenly have massive amounts of pop out of no where. Ive also heard of skaters who wore ankle weights (reese forbes) to get more pop, has anyone increased the the size of thier flip tricks, if so how? Ive heard everything from practicing ollies to using your toes.............

Practice practice practice, if you where ankle weights your kness will not work properly, the orthopedic told me that one after i also thought stevie wore ankle weights back in the day.  Go to the gym and train

Man you just have to find some shit to jump over, then do it ALL day, and start making the thing your jumping over higher and higher, you'll reach a point where it's super easy to jump things, it's just practice.

However on the down side, don't get fooled when you get over into thinking you still have a fantastic pop, i've fooled myself to many time with the - "I used to. . . "

I think that practicing or trying to pop more can help. The more practice the more easier it can become.
I noticed gym leg machines can do miracles for ya. The one where you lay on your back and push the floor weight till your legs are nearly straight... I can go on and on about that one. That's actually the same motion of sucking up your legs. Then I do a few others but not sure what they're called. Being limber helps. I noticed when my control was all there(mad years ago-lol) it was even easier. I actually started popping em instantly just cause my control was good.

Here's the secret: remember that your back foot is what determines the clearance heigth of your ollie.
Also, if  you're going to flick do it late, at the highest point of your ollie, right when you are flattening out the front of your board.

  Yep, here's a pic from before I could do a kickflip (1990, steve rocco board, indy 159's and 66 mm wheels (bullet 66's) and half inch riser pads lol ), I might be old but I still have some snaps, IMO because I was a fiend for high ollies when I was younger.



  You have to try to ollie high frequently or your ollie will never get higher.

  Typical leg exorcises (weight lifting) won't help, you need to develop quick twitch muscle fiber, not slow twitch, just going out and ollieing as high as you can is good way to do it.

yea it's more techique than muscle. you gotta have both but you don't do shit with your legs if you don't know how to used them.

so ollie over shit all day and then use the same technique to other shit after you've learned your lesson.

i've never figured out why i can ollie pretty high with something in front of me to go over but with nothing there it's a lot harder.
