a shitload. our is 800 a month but we looked at some that cost as much as 1300. plus you got your moms on the case and you it's a proper day care so no worries about coming home to a baby that's been sleeping all day.

seriously, i'm envious.

See, being a man and having a boy, you will only have one penis to worry about, but have a girl, and you have an unlimited number of penis' to worry about!

I work at a daycare for children who already go to school (no clue what it's called in english) but if i look at what i get paid an hour and see what sort of things are present at such places it is no wonder that parents have to pay a shitload of money to send their little ones to it. It somehow seems like a vicious circle, working more hours to be able to send your kids to daycare so you can work more, but i'm only 20 and not expecting children any time soon, so i might lack some knowledge.
Congrats to all who are about to have a kid and i would gnar the dads who are able to skate and raise a kid if i could!

daycare has everything to do with working mothers. if you have stay at home mom then she obviously takes care of the kids but i was never really interested in a stay at home mom. plus my wife is a career woman so her salary is thankfully, way higher than 800 a month so it make sense for her not to quit.

the down side is that if you want to have more than one kid it cost you that much more each time where if you have a stay at home mom then it cost you no more but i imagine stresses the wife out more.

when i look at my finances with my dad from time to time he's really old school and always goes "well your wife won't be able to quit her job anytime soon..." and I always have to explain to him that that was never a goal of ours and that my wife actually likes to work. she got magna cum laude at her university, what would make him think she would want to waste that? it's crazy to me but different people do it different ways. and fuck, maybe she will blow up and one day I could be the stay at home dad, haha.

i can be pretty stressing to, a whole day of work, than you come home and have to take care of your family,
then again, it seems pretty stressing too if you are at home all day watching your kid and doing all these chores at home, work distracts sometimes and you earn more
oh well they both have pros and cons I guess

with our day care we can drop the baby off at 6:30am and pick them up at 6:30 pm. the place is super clean and well organized and they keep the babys\toddlers active and stimulated all day. we have dropped in unannounced several times and are always happy with what we see.

our plan is that I will drop the baby in the morning and my wife picks it up after work. that gives me time to get to work at 7 and be done at 3-4 and still have time to run errands and skate and then meet my wife back at home with the baby around 7 or so.

it's definitely a lifestyle that is appealing to us because it allows everyone to have a simulating day and do their own thing then at night we all get together to unwind over dinner and tv with a baby who also had a full day. My sister is doing the in home nanny and it's not working out very good. i think the nanny has the baby sleeping all day and when they get home the baby crys non-stop from 4-10 everyday.

the weekends will be tricky though because the baby will be used to being around other babys, having puppet shows and being stimulated all day so we will really have to step it up to be able to hang with that, but that's probably a good thing.

we try to think about the the whole instead of making it all about the baby. idea being that if anyone is miserable the whole unit will probably not function well.

i work a 40 hour a week type job M-F. it's really chill and i can pretty much wear the same cloths i skate in to work which is really a huge plus because it makes my mornings way easier because I don't have to grab an extra outfit and pair of shoes everyday.

My Mother in law is a stay at home wife who used to be a teacher. She takes care of our Daughter so we're EXTREMELY lucky and greatful for that. Of course my child was going to be a genius regardless, but she is doing so well with being with her about 10 hours a day.

It's been over 2 years now but:
The baby needs nutrients most depending on how far along you are. Fruits and Vegetables will soon/should be a staple for her. And milk, lots of it.
We got off easy on the morning sickness.

Bananas for a few weeks, pineapples for a few weeks. Man we went through so many different cravings now that I think back on it. The best was a 2 week obsession oops I mean craving for crunchwrap supremes from The Bell!
