Yeah, it was cool to see "Person Pitch" at number one.
Not that those things really matter, but good for him all the same. I'm sure he'll get more sales out of this, and he deserves the recognition.
Does somebody wanna make a topic for us to debate our favorite albums of the year, or should we just do it in here?

Top five, in no real order except for the first one.
1. Panda Bear- Person Pitch
2. Animal Collective- Strawberry Jam
3. Cutting Pink with Knives- Populuxxe
4. Rameses III- Honey Rose
5. Tera Melos- Drugs To The Dear Youth
I guess "New Moon" by Elliott Smith doesn't really count, but that definitely deserves and honorable mention.
And there's so much stuff that I still haven't listened to yet. I've still got a bit of money left over after Christmas shopping, I'm gonna go to the record shop later.

Somebody should make us a "Team Animal" banner to put in our sigs.
You up for it #1? Just throw a bunch of cartoon animals in there.

pitchfork list is so predictable, it just shows how pointless these lists from publications are these days. i mean everyone has these albums already and the self-importance of music writers these days is so nauseating.
my top 10 not that it matters...
01. lcd soundsystem - sound of silver
02. liars - liars
03. deerhunter - cryptograms
04. studio - yearbook 1
05. the midnight juggernauts - dystopia
06. daft punk - alive 2007
07. glass candy - b/e/a/t/b/o/x/
07. para one - naissance des pieuvres
08. lindstrom & prins thomas - reinterpretations
09. chromatics - night drive
10. black moth super rainbow - dandeloin gum

new records that i thought were good in '07- no order and pretty spur of the moment-
kemialliset ystavat - untitled
mv & ee - mother of thousands
person pitch is fairly obvious for anyone who heard it.
the field - from here we go sublime
magik markers - boss
really from '06, but i sure as hell couldn't get a copy until this year.
i ride for deerhoof the way some of you seem to ride for animal collective.
they're pretty much incapable of making a bad record at this point.
those are the main ones, but i like both of deerhunter's records, battles, the grizzly bear ep, no age, and dan deacon, too.
some good reissues this year, too - check out home schooled - the abc's of kid funk on numero, too.
japrocksampler is by far the music related book of the year.

'06, decent album though.
i listened to over 100 albums this year and i still struggle to make a list. bad year for albums, lots of really great singles/EPs though.

There's been plenty of good music released this year.
Just cause you haven't heard it, doesn't mean it's not there.
But I do have to say, this seemed like the year that artists whose work I've really enjoyed in the past just kinda said fuck it, and released kinda whatever albums. Lookin at you Architecture in Helsinki, Bright Eyes, Stars, Dntel, Mum, etc...

Very truth. They've had so much shit come out in the past couple years that's been consistently rad.

Not to be a dick, I know everybody has different musical tastes and everything, but I absolutely can not stand M.I.A.*
Nothing against you guys who are into her or anything, like what you want, I just had to get that out of my system.
* The only exception being "Paper Planes"

"Pitchfork is a bunch of assholes writing for assholes." - my friend.
I hate the reviews. It's like these guys are STILL trying to prove they don't need to go to college, by writing to an imaginary professor.
Look at this Crooked Fingers review.
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/16383-dignity-and-shame
Do people actually talk like this? Do people actually listen to that album and want to read stuff like this? This is just as bad as those Cosmo magazines that chicks buy, but for hipster queers that wear scarves indoors.
