I miss the days of just simple black and white colorways for my toeshoes.
toe'ing back in the day was so rad and raw, nothing like the jocky toe hucking you kids today get down with.

I've thought about getting those vibram "toe shoes" before. My brother is a long distance runner and he swears by them. He even ran a marathon in them. He told me that they help strengthen muscles in the foot that are normally not used when we wear normal shoes.

he could just be hype though

Yeah, everyone says this but ignore the fact that even the manufacturers of those shoes (who often use that as a selling point) say in fine print that there is no actual evidence that that is true. And in fact, that claim contradicts studies that show the negative effects of running barefoot/without the correct shoes on joints.

Sorry if this seems hostile. I've just gotten in numerous arguments about this with people who have nothing but advertisements and anecdotes as their evidence.

It is a wolf, yes! It's kind of cool if you are down to rock the shoes without the strings in them, right now you can only see the ears though haha.

I like running in them. I'm not so into the debates about whether running barefoot is better/worse for someone. The only thing I care about is I can jump into a lake with them on after, and they dry out quickly. Doesn't sound like a common thing to most people, but I run near a lake and after a few miles in the summer, it's fun to just run straight off a dock and jump in. They're sick. I wouldn't run a marathon in them. 3 miles or more on pavement and my shit hurts. On dirt or cedar trails, I feel like I could run for days with those things.

Not hostile at all dude. A lot of people greet those things just the way you'd expect. They're weird shoes so people have weird reactions. And honestly the best part is wearing them when you swim in lakes. Sometimes there's weird tree roots and rocks that cut your feet up if you walk on the bottom. With those on, you're fine.

I think there's evidence to support both sides, I can see that if you learn how to run with em, it could possibly help. but if you run the same way barefoot that you do with shoes then yeah, you're going to kill your joints. hell, the tarahumara natives in mexico run for literally days through the mountains with no shoes and they're fine, they don't even want them.

This is a horrible argument for running without shoes as well because people generally use that as evidence that everyone can run barefoot with no side effects. But this is ignoring the fact that Tarahumara have been running like that for generations (which I would be willing to bet means that their bodies have adapted to handle that kind of running) and that individual members of the group have been running like that their entire lives so they know how to do it correctly. Because one group can run barefoot correctly after doing it their entire life does not mean that 30 year olds who have been using running shoes their entire life should all of a sudden start using those Vibram shoes and they'll be healthier. I'm not saying that running barefoot can't be healthy or helpful to people, I just think advocates of it are generally not as well-informed as they should be and most are blindly buying into some kind of "primitive always equals better" shtick.

Again, sorry to rant.
