The Spot Modification Thread

Post your questions and stuff here. I am sure alot of us have them.
I have a couple of handrails with kinks that I want gone. Any advice on what saws to use to get it done in the least amount of time possible? A regular handsaw like this is just not cutting for me.

If they are steel or aluminum a hacksaw like you posted will work fine. But obviously an electric one will be faster. Just make sure you have the right blade.

There's this ledge spot by my house that used to be the meet up spot for everything to the point we actually just stay there because it's so fun and chill. Then bikers came and it blew up in terms of it's a big rock now. How would we go about fixing up the edges so they may actually grind and slide again without throwing on coping or something. Would cementing it again or something really work or would that chip off and stuff later on? Beats me.

Cementing it would work, I've also seen people bondo ledges. Someone bondo'd the Rincon hubba so Ryan Smith could do that kf grind. And yeah, sawzalls are kinda loud, but handsaws are loud as well and take like twice as long to do the same task. If you're careful about it, a sawzall is perfect.

Yeeeeeah we all have thought about that for the past 3-4 years but we're lazy. It's a pretty hefty set of ledges that span maybe 50 or something so it'd take a while. Thanks.

Not really spot modification, but related: which type of lamps are best - and cheapest - to light up a post, apart from car lights? We have some killer spots we can only skate at night. Thanks.

Fresnel makes high quality assorted lamps, but they are professional quality, so they'll be a little more expensive. pretty much anything works though.

$8 Halogens from Wal-Mart work just fine for me, even when filming.

Seriously, the quality of high power LED flashlights is incredible. I've got hand cannons that would light up enough of a spot to make it skateable. Check out this invaluable repository of knowledge right now:

Be careful though. Unlike this place, they don't take any shit, and mods will ban you pretty fucking quick if you don't know how to word your questions or use the search function.
Just imagine this:

A cordless Sawzaw is your best bet for cutting rails and knobs. With a good blade you can get through a knob or rail in about 2 minutes. They are kinda loud though. I just bought one to get rid of these knobs. And actually now that I got rid of them I wouldnt mind selling the thing. If anyone is interested hit me up.

Both the spots I am looking to cut have regular security, and I might have to cut the last posts of the rails. Will it still work? The kinks actually work as support structures for the railing.
I am sure I could get it done within two minutes on both rails.

If you have someone on look out Im sure you could get it done pretty easy. And as long as its security, not cops, whats the worse that could happen? If you don't hesitate and just start sawing like a maniac it's goes by really fast.

HAHAHA, if it was still 2002 maybe. We've got cell phones now.
I don't think all of that is really necessary. One of the rails is in a park that closes at 6:30. Tresspassing ticket if you get caught there after that, but the park is huge, so at 11:30 at night I probably won't get caught. The other spot is a college campus, with the railing way off in the back at a part of the campus usually vacant at night (near the cafeteria). Security just isn't a problem if it gets done fast.
Somebody answer that guys question about the ledges getting fucked up by BMXers. I have one in mind also.
