It'll probably look like a big block of resin on my wrist but I don't care, I wanted something durable and reliable to wear for work and stuff. Can't go wrong with the tried and true. I'm not making the kind of scratch where I could afford one of the nice German automatics that I want but G-Shocks will always be cool.

I'm surprised I'm not the only one who loves shit like this. To be honest, I was expecting you guys to call me out for my nerdy antics.

The pencil sketches (or Douga, as they are known) are hand drawn, with different animators taking ownership of different scenes or sections of the movie, based on their personal strengths. The sketches are then traced by hand onto the cels/acetates, before their reverse is hand painted based on the colour coding that you can see in red ink on large Tetsuo kicking sketch (behind the cel). Quite a lot of work, considering the process is repeated 24 times for every second of the film. In some cases, up to nine cel layers are onscreen at any point in time, plus the background painting.

The Tetsuo falling/hallucinating cel is standard size (Although multi-layered), which is around 13.75 inches x 9 inches. The bulk of Akira cels and cels in general are that size. As you can see in the group shot, the others are larger, due to the level of detail required or need for panning, as in the case of the cel featuring Kaneda's bike.

I thought my Akira collection was good but by posting the cells im going to assume you have me beat. I would sell my soul and pimp out my girlfriend for those. Good looks man, best thing ive seen in this thread so far.

Actually being paid on set is fucking great. This is what it feels like to just buy whatever the fuck and still be set on food and rent.

And the joys of calculating the cheapest route for a Wii and all the proper Mario games: Kart, Golf, Party, Tennis (maybe), Paper, Sunshine, Galaxy. Also Wind Waker and Brawl. And a bunch more Gamecube classics.

order another pair of those ZERO chuck knock-offs
(every time I go to a park, someone asks me "how the hell are you skating in chucks?". its a real ice breaker, even when you don't want one)

and a pair of theotis' stance socks on sale for halfprice
(which i figured, was going to be the only way I'd ever be able to even consider paying more than a crisp two dollar bill for a pair of socks.)

Yup - it actually wears a lot smaller than I expected it to. I'm loving this watch a lot more than I thought I would. I definitely am thinking about adding another to my collection, I don't like those wild ones they come out with but there's something to be said about the blend of function and tech that just makes for a really cool design piece. I totally understand why people go crazy collecting G-Shocks.

Bought from Brick Harbor (mistake), then it arrived with a warped tail. I'll just hang it on my wall I guess.
