Adio possibly done ?

wow this is a whopper of news

on monday about 20 people got the pink slip over at adio. heard it was everyone from the receptionist to warehouse to sales - even the team manager and marketing people !

from what i got is that adio was acquired by the people who own coleman and mr coffee months ago. they came in and cancelled the planet earth brand. the snow side went to k2 and the k2 snow reps. the streetwear side was dropped and the entire planet earth staff was dropped along with other various workers there.

word is that tony and bam were up on there contracts and did not renew them.

with adio only left - no more planet earth or holden they were looking to restructure and do adio only. fast forward a few months and no new changes (from what ive seen and heard).  abut 20 people or so got the pink slip.  designers, sales, warehouse they even cut the receptionist, the team manager and marketing dept also !

with no team manager or marketing dept how do they expect to make it ?

no word on current team riders but best guess is that they are under contract and have to ride it out.
and they still have the shaun white so best guess would be a target collection to go along with his target clothing collection.  would make sense with the direction they seem to be going because you dont need an entire staff to do a target collection with one guy?

one good thing i did hear is that the employees that were let go did get severance pay.

if adio would change their name/logo, go to a new distribution, and keep the majority of their team (with a few exceptions of course) , i'd be stoked. similar to the 88-vox transition

I honestly think Vox is a cool brand but dont think they'll live to see 2010.

Adio make fine skateshoes, strong, good price hope they stay in business, never had any complaints about selling adio's.
they are not always the most fashionable shoes, but they work...

i've never liked Adio as a brand, or any of their products, but they do seem to fill a certain niche well and i see a decent amount of people wearing their shit.  it'd be kinda shitty if they went under just so K2 can "focus on their core business", or whatever the bullshit reason is they'll give.

What a shame for jason leaving transworld to do the adio video and then everything gets shut down.  Hopefully transworld will take him back since they went completely down hill since he left.  Im sure he wont have a hard time finding work considering he IS the best skateboard filmer on the scene.
