The only superhero movie that is good are the new Batman's, Christopher Nolan knows what he's doing. Everything else from Ironman to the Hulk can suck a fat dick.

Id say the Watchmen had its moments. The source material is so good that it would be hard to really fuck up that movie.

This sequence was easily my favourite of the movie, the use of Nat King Cole, visually it looks amazing, the rest of the movie, especially the last 45 minutes fell really flat

I forgot Watchmen, but probably because I was speaking on terms of Superheroes that everyone generally knows: Captain America, Fantastic 4, Spiderman, etc. Awesome film regardless though.

"The Watchmen" is listed on TIME magazines top 100 novels of all time list, seems to be pretty well known. Admittedly though I didn't read the graphic novel until I saw the debut trailer while watching The Dark Knight, seems a lot of people followed suit as it was sold out in every store I went to in Toronto at the time

I suppose they aren't really super heroes either, more Anti Heroes

Getting hyped for Prometheus I rewatched Alien. I've always been more a fan of the original than Aliens but I'm probably in the minority, seems everyone liked the GI Joe action of Aliens more

Did the exact same thing this week, and I mean every single Alien movie, even the horrible Alien vs Predator ones. I really liked Aliens because you get a better look at the xenomorphs, but I have to agree on the 1979 Alien being the best of the original trilogy, it's way more mysterious and scary than the 2nd one.

And I fucking love these old sci-fi movies in general and especially the effects they made with the state of the technology at the time. Proof of the amazing artists and creative minds at work. It all went downhill after the really early 80's imo.

Really wish I could just watch Lawrence of Arabia to watch it, but I have to deconstruct the editing for class, and I hate the fucking class and loathe the task. I want to rewatch it over the summer and just bask in it's glory.

Now understand why The Artist won best picture.

Bunch of people in my cine class, especially the teacher, bashed 21 Jump Street. Bunch of people in my editing class praised it. I'm with the editors, there's some terrible filmmaking there, but it's fucking hilarious.

Can't say that Superman's ever really got me hyped but Christopher Nolan wrote and is producing this new Superman reboot, so might be worth a look. Batman > everything though. Bring on Dark Knight Rises.

It looks like there is a new Superman movie in the making as well, called Man of Steel due 2013

With some familiar names as Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne

Dude! You forgot Michael Shannon as General Zod! I'm so stoked for that performance. Shannon kills it so hard, can't wait for him to take up the role of a villain.

1. I thought the movie was okay, not really worthy of the hype, but it is anything but pretentious. I don't think you know what pretentious means... The director is a big fan of the silent era movies and he just wanted to make his own fun little silent movie. And it was just that, a fun little silent movie. They weren't trying to make it seem any more important than it was. 2. The Artist wasn't even a Hollywood film you fucking retard. It was made by a French company and then distributed by The Weinsteins in America.

It's not pretentious. If anything, it's a homage to silent films (Or classic films). Hollywood is full of itself, but as Kristi Yamaguchi said, this wasn't made by Hollywood. Michel Hazanavicius wanted to make a silent film and Hollywood ate it up.

Same writer as City of God.  If you liked that, you'll like this, it's a similar film told from the perspective of a violent BOPE/military police seargeant.

Midnight in Paris, all the writers and artist made the movie so great. Can easily be one of my new favorite films.

I liked that one more than I thought I would. In a way it was totally childish and corny thinking about it now, but I do recall really enjoying it.

Outside of Ray and when he was 'Steamin Willie Beamen he hasnt had too many memorable roles

Look for Tarantino to change all of that with "Django Unchained"

oh please, i'm fully aware of the meaning of pretentious.  and homage.  i think it was more of an homage to the set designers antique collection than anything.  this movie fucking blew.  and i could give a fucking shit who the fuck made it, its still a self-important hollywood circle jerk.

Hear me out. On the surface it looks pretty gay. Think along the lines of Atonement. An amazingly shot period piece love story with a really good score. Fassbender hasn't had a bad role and he doesnt start here. The movie was really dark, pretty depressing at times very slow. Appreciate it for the camera work and music if nothing else.
