it was really good.  i'm torn actually.  i kind of felt like the remake was actually a little better.  like he took the best things from the original and made them better (thought the kids were better in the remake).  but then at the same time he ripped off so much from the original.  obviously it's a remake, but so much was straight out of the source material (even down to the way shots were set up, stage direction etc..).  the fact that the Swedish one was the original i guess automatically makes it better.

but i did like the flash forward thing with the hospital at the beginning in the remake.  changing the structure added more tension.  also the scene with the guy hiding in the back seat of the car was pretty epic (in the remake)

both good.  have to hand it to the o.g. though
they took out the best twist in the original movie, something that's also in the book.

i guess this is a dumb question, what twist?  i didn't catch any different twist with this or the original
spoiler: there is a quick shot of eli's crotch and its all sewn up because he was castrated. it goes into more detail and gives a back story in the book.

Boyz N The Hood is streaming on Netflix which means I'll be watching it weekly for awhile.  Wish they'd stream Menace II Society.

surprised i've never watched either of these films before, but loved both of them, taxi driver may well be one of my favourite films of all time, you can't fault de niro's performance.

"mob week" on amc. I think I missed goodfellas and millers crossing. But a censored down joe Pesci? Kinda takes away that grittiness he brings.

Still struggling to make a sound judgement on this film, there's no denying its beauty, visually it's one of the most radical and stunning films i've seen, however I felt it was muddled, I know a certain amount (almost all) of The Tree of Life is open to interpretation, but too much of this comes across as messy in parts in terms of narrative and meaning. It was certainly an experience though, more so than most other films. Basically I think what i'm trying to say is that I liked it. I think.

I was so excited for tree of life, but couldn't get into it. Visually it's fantastic and I generally enjoy Malicks films (especially badlands and the thin red line). Tree of life Just seemed too farfetched. Maybe that's not the right word.

When I saw Tree of Life in theaters, I was so lost for a good while into the movie. Had no clue what was going on for a good 40 minutes, but I kinda fell into it as it progressed. It was definitely one of the most visually beautiful movies I've ever seen and I actually enjoyed the minimal dialogue. Definitely not one of my favorite movies, but I'm glad it exists.

One of the most unique and well-executed coming-of-age type stories I've seen. Really benefits from the full theatre sound experience too, so if it's playing near you I'd recommend checking it out.

That's how I felt after watching it too. It also got America by Simon & Garfunkel stuck in my head for weeks.
