All of the dudes mentioned will have full parts correct? Stoked to see a Brett Nelson part, great style. Luke Malaney should kill it as well.

going to premieres is like skating tompkins except everyone vibes twice as hard because they aren't exposed to the possibility of actually skating. shit, going to enid's any night of the week you're likely to run into the glaring eyes of extremely self-conscious skaterboi's just grilling.
i try to avoid skateboarders here at all costs...and i hate skating alone, it's just that 99% of "skateboarders" here are dickbags.

Like the slap board too!
I don't get all the random parks people skate in NYC. Aren't there millions of good plazas and street spots around NYC that make it so you don't have to deal with skating a box and a flatbar on a basketball court? Not trying to hate, just understand...

I don't think there's many plazas, but the reason people skate at places like tompkins are 1. to meet up with people 2. to skate smooth ground and not be harasssed, and 3. because some people just aren't that creative. I think tompkins is more like a 'training grounds', as gay as that sounds.
I went to visit a friend in brooklyn, and he dragged me to the manhattan bridge skatepark and stayed there for two hours! Its not that its a horrible place, but who the hell goes to NY to skate pre-fab, plastic bullshit?

And it's funny how most of the dickbags are originally from out of state. The people originally from the state of New York almost always seem cool.

I'm with you on this. For the most part. I've met some good dudes here, but it's few and far between. For the most part there's too much cool, and not enough and the gang.
That said, let me know if you ever want to shred. We can go skate a spot alone together. We can just stare blankly at the ground, nod occasionally and never utter a word. Then one of us can take a slam and head home. It'll be sick.

Damn GWB dropping knowledge, he's right. And its not that most skaters out here are dickheads, everyone out here has their own group of guys they skate with and dont really branch out too much, a few dudes carry this sense of superiority because they work at supreme or whatever, but just because some dude doesnt chat you up at a spot doesnt mean hes a dick.

Word. People come here from North Carolina, wear cut-off shorts and grow a puleo-beard, ride a few important local's dicks and feel that they're more important than all the regular locals. It's sad that most think that's what NYC is all about. When I'm old enough, I will never be involved with that Max Fish/Tompkins bullshit. I'll skate with my friends and search for some spots and ACTUALLY skate and have a good time.

vibes are worldwide, that shit is definitely not limited to new york.
people skate tompkins and 12th and a because it's fun. going to 100 different amazing plazas in midtown or skating through brooklyn finding random shit to skate is fun too, but sometimes you just want smooth ground without getting kicked out. it would be almost impossible to learn a new trick skating through midtown.. maybe that's why everybody from new york sucks right?!

The thing with the out of town dickbags you speak of is that they tend to be overwhelmed with the nyc lifestyle. In retrospect most people that have moved out to NY do it for a better life and just get caught up in it because there just so many other out-of-towners who are used to the hectic small town environment but now its available to them up front in a gritty 24 hour community.Sidetracking skating like that leaves a lot of people that just skate when it fits in with their lifestyle.I don't think its any of their faults for living it up in such an amazing city, but it does throw the vibe of nyc around cause the locals are used to doing their own thing and snotty of out towners come in and mess the vibe up.Not saying this is with everyone because nyc runs on such colorful characters. It just boils down to how the overall feel the city gets scrutinized because kids from out of town are sometimes eager to gloat(since its all fame or glory out in the suburbs),not realizing nyc is all about earning respect and everyone is like one big family.Like every out of towner seems to forget how rich the graffiti scene is and what a deep history it has and how style is everything, same goes for skateboarding kids forget that the most stylish skateboarders ever came out of nyc.Its only right I think that all those dudes should stop walking around with their head up their ass and give respect where respect is due,but the locals should also make them feel welcome and not be so stubborn and accept the newcomers. After all the most amazing part of Nyc as far as skating is just going and skating around with anybody you meet on that same day and just being accepted by a crew of kids you would have never know otherwise.People dont skate out there like that anymore and its saddening.

I agree with what you say over-all but, I'm not completely intolerant of people from out of town. I just hate the ones who think they're more important than everyone else. Bret Nelson, Jake Johnson, Jahmal Williams and a bunch of other dudes are from out of state and blend in well and aren't complete fucking dickbags. New York City is the capital of the world, of course there's gonna be non-new yorkers, just anyone who thinks they're hot shit and more important than the other regular skateboarders because of their Tompkins and Max fish cred are annoying to me.

Couldn't have said it better. I'm from Mass and have only skated the city a couple times but each time I've gone to Tompkins and then went out later to bars including the Fisch its definitely a clique type of vibe, I was just psyched to be around pros or other significant people in skating so I didnt give much of a fuck about the scene.
