I love 'em but Alex Hughes takes forever to put shit out. He's either putting shit out constantly or not at all. Hatred Surge is gnarly too.

Not sure if anyone knows this black metal band from Canada called Woods of Ypres, but they are really awesome. Unfortunately, I just found out the founding member/song writer died in a car crash around Christmas time. I thought I'd post a few songs in his honor.
Here's a fast song first
Woods of Ypres - Crossing the 45th Parallel

And a more chilled out but amazing song

Today starts an interview series I did called, "Military In Metal." Today's interview is with Phil McSorley of the band Cobalt. All the interviews were pretty interesting and opinions ran the gamut. Enjoy!

Continuing with my Interview series, "Military In Metal," today's interview is with ex-Marine, Matt Widener who played in Citizen, The County Medical Examiners, Exhumed and is currently in Cretin and most recently Liberteer.

I'll have to agree with the guy who left a comment on your site: the interview with the dude from Cobalt reeked of insecure/close-minded military machismo.

Today's installment of my Military in Metal series is an interview with Champ Morgan of Texas grinders Kill The Client. I think this one is the happy medium.

btw I didn't mean that the ex-exhumed guy was over the top just that he provided a nice foil to the cobalt dude

I was really lucky in how they all had very different points of view and were all over the spectrum. I only have the three right now. I have a fourth in the bag and I might adjust and throw it up tomorrow, but I might also do a part II. I have two other legends to talk to. One is easy as hell to get a hold of and the other has all but disappeared.
Glad you enjoyed though! It was my goal to produce an interview that was a little out of the norm.

All in all, they were extremely interesting reads.
I've compiled a list of bands to check out since I've been slacking lately. Yesterday, I picked up
Carnal Law
by Vastum and
True Traitor, True Whore
by Leviathan. Both are really good. I'll definitely be listening to them both a lot. I've known about Leviathan for a while, but just recently started listening to him. Not sure why, but he just didn't interest me a couple of years ago. The next band I'm going to get stuff from will be Altar of Plagues. They remind me a lot of WitTR, but I like them better for some reason. And I have to download False's release still.
In other news, Standing On A Floor Of Bodies released another demo called
Hostile Carbon Units
which is sick as fuck. I've been listening to their 2 demos basically nonstop since I found them.

I just finished "Blood Red and True" (literally, like just finished listening to it like a minute ago) and I really liked it. Granted, maybe if I heard more than just
The Tenth Sub-Level of Suicide
, I would have a different opinion, but from what I've heard I liked it. It deviates enough from "standard" black metal to stay interesting, but never veers into pretentiousness or sacrifices its roots as black metal.
That De Magia Veterum band is the same guy that does Gnaw Their Tongues. I didn't mind it, but there was too thick of a layer of feedback/buzz for me. It distracted. I know what he was going for, but it was just too prominent for my tastes.

You've listened to
Tentacles Of Whorror
, right? Easily his best full length. You also NEED to hear his other band, Lurker of Chalice.

No, I haven't heard
Tentacles of Whorror
yet. At least not all of it. I listened to a few songs on YouTube after reading your post and they were good, so I'll have to pick it up. And don't worry-Lurkers of Chalice is on my list.
Oh-I think Gaza posted that their new album is looking at a May release date.

I'm on the fence about the new Meshuggah album, however I was able to come across a copy of the new Municipal Waste album early. It's insane! I'm sure you can find a leak if you look for it.
