I can't really get into Meshuggah since they got their new singer.
Lady Gaga v Meshuggah - Bleedarazzi
I'm listening to Weeping Birth today. It's another one man band from the same guy behind Mirrorthrone (which is one of my favorite bands). He has like four different bands that are just him, but he's only released material for Mirrorthrone, Weeping Birth, and Unholy Matrimony--all of which are some form of black metal. Weeping Birth is what he calls "brutal black metal," which is fairly accurate.
Weeping Birth - Totalitarian Grievance

Just got into this band.

How do you guys feel about Meshuggahs new album? Also who is as stoked as I am for the new Municipal Waste album dropping soon?
I'm on the fence about the new Meshuggah album, however I was able to come across a copy of the new Municipal Waste album early. It's insane! I'm sure you can find a leak if you look for it.
Searching for it now! I feel the same way about the Meshuggah album. Was never really to into them.
I once ducktaped meshuggahs drummer after he passed out, good times.
Thats pretty funny. Also Fookya thanks for the Waste info just got my hands on it and so far it rules! I Would also fuck the shit out of Lady Gaga.

Not into Meshuggah. Their songs are all too similar sounding to me.
New Unsane is the shit
New Thou/Kowloon Walled City is the shit
New Graf Orlock is the shit
Just got back from SXSW, made lots of new friends, saw APMD, Kill The Client, Mutilation Rites, KEN Mode, High On Fire, OFF!, Ringworm, Primitive Weapons and a bunch of other bands a bunch of times.

I kept running into the dude from the Cancer Bats. Never saw them though, not really my thing, but I seriously saw that dude everywhere.
High on Fire lost me after Death is This Communion and I haven't seen them play a decent live show since Joe Preston was in the band. Matt Pike seems to blow out his voice easily and he's not always.... uh, been in the best condition to play well. That being said, the new songs sound rad and this was the best I've seen them since 2005.

I always lumped Meshuggah in with Opeth- boring. That new Black Breath is better than their last, but not as good as their demo, which means it's a solid "ok"

I listened to a few Wolvhammer songs last night and liked what I heard. The Archives describe them as "blackened sludge metal," but I heard much more of the black metal than sludge influences in the few songs I listened to.

I go back and forth on Wolvhammer. Sometimes, they don't register with me and other times I love them. I haven't heard their newiest, but their old stuff was really decent.

Probably my favorite band of all time. They don't have a bad release and they're impeccable at what they do. Try and find the split they did with Isis where PD covered Carcass and Isis covered Godflesh. I can go one and on about how JR Hayes is one of the best lyricists of our time. The dude is a poet.
No, no, no, this is beautiful, this is art.

Yeah, their lyrics blew me away. I looked them up while listening to
Prowler
and a few songs off of
Terrifyer
, like "Pretty in Casts" and "Thumbsucker" and they were great. So then I wrote a song in their vein.

HOWEVER, that song was better than earlier stuff they did. They're just too core-y for me. It sounds like someone gave them a "Death Metal for Dummies" book and they just stuck with it in order to make sure that they're heavy. But it just makes them forgettable.
