Chicago now. Formerly STL, about 2 blocks from Shitside/the DIY project under Kingshighway. Saint Louis' scene is going to blow up soon I think.

never thought I'd be so in love with concrete.

We got this bowl project going behind the biggest fiercest squad in Hamburg, Germany.
We got this section first:

then there was like a years break and we got this deepend!

The bowl is a shitload of fun but it takes some time getting used to it

Here's Atlanta's newest DIY spot, so far there's only a ledge and an a-frame (which is so fucking fun) but someone just leased it out for a year, so hopefully some cool shit will be built.

what kind of concrete is used for a project like this? I've used the regular quickcrete before and it comes out really rough with all the rocks in it. How is this so smooth?

I believe it's portland cement. The main dude who built one of our DIY spots said to make sure I use portland cement, otherwise it'll be rough and crappy.

portland is only part of the equation. you need the rocks(aggregate) for strength. you want to float the rocks down with a mag(magnessium) float, and bring up the cream(portland). you can add a few scoops of portland to each bag that you mix. check out the d.i.y. section of skatepark.org  good luck

found this in my city, needs to be fixed, and we're probably going to patch the ground because there's a ton of cracks and shitty ground in the run up.

T-mo, body, and some other anti-hero dudes have made most of the well known DIY projects in the bay area I think, I know Bordertown/Wasteland in Oakland was their work. I see them just using those cheap ass bags of quick crete, but then some sealant stuff on the top that looks yellow at first and makes it super smooth.

there is no sealant that you can just put on concrete to make it smooth. it is all in working it smooth with your floats and trowels. the quick crete bags work fine, it is all in how you work the crete...

there is plenty of finer more expensive crete that you can put over cement. me and a couple buddies made this spot over the course of a couple months. there's a lot more to it than what's showed. shot some footage on it yesterday. mega fun!
