i have never had a desire to drive. cars always seemed lame and not much of a necessity in a city. but motorcycles im down for. once im out of school and have some disposable income i would much rather get a motorbike then some run of the mill car. these 2 bad boys are beauties, but im pretty sure i will never own either

I watched a guy totally wreck his crotch rocket and eat shit directly in front of me I was so close i got hit with shrapnel from his bike, but it was completely his fault.  Around here guys that drive the type of bikes bobbito posted are always meathead guidos who don't know what the fuck they are doing, so i've learned to resent sport bikes and on top that i think they look like shit.
I can't change your opinion about the bikes but I can see where you're coming from about the guidos. Not too much of a fan myself, especially since I live in a town crowded with guido bros from NJ and eastern MA, but I always wanted one of these little crotch rockets and I'm a Honda guy haha so I guess those two sorta go hand-in-hand. To be honest, after this thread, I'm liking these Triumphs thought I guess I just never see them around here

it seemed like a bad summer for bikers, either that or the news just covered more bike crash stories. it seemed every other week was a dude getting killed by an SUV pulling out infront of them or crossing their lane.

sport bike dude bit it hard the other day. Left a bar drunk, his friends stopped him down the road and took him and his bike home. he took it out again an hour later.  he ran into the back of a truck whilst going 105mph.  the truck was going the speed limit of 35mph.  they found parts of him all over some ladie's yard.  completely his fault but just a weird way to do it.

riding in LA must be tough for any of you that do it.

about 10 years ago i bought one of these-- a 1975 bmw 60/6, but mine was silver. fausto came with me to check it out when i bought it, and for that reason alone i wish i still had it. it ran so nice, was really fun to ride. i bought it when i lived in the burbs and loved riding it through the hills and the country lanes, but when i moved to SF i felt like i was about to get smashed at every turn, people just didn't see me on it in the city, so i sold it. used the money to buy a 1976 bmw 2002 car, which turned out to be the worst thing i ever bought. paid $2000 for it, a year later i'd put $6000 more into fixing it (including a new engine) over and over, and sold it for $2000. always kinda wished i'd just kept the bike, but probably would have sold it by now anyhow. still love looking at cool bikes, but don't plan on owning another one anytime soon.

yeah, the only drag about bikes is cars.

when i was in college (smallish beach town) i had a Vespa.  not the same as a motorcycle, but almost .  fucking loved it.  completely changed my life.  made driving actually fun.  but even in a mellow town i had a couple of scary near-death episodes of idiots not seeing me.  i sold it before i left that town.

in LA, i don't know.  it's sketchy, but i'm still tempted.  if it weren't for idiot drivers who could kill you

Here's my stable:
1980 xl250

Such a fun bike to cruise around town and trail ride with. You can go anywhere with it.
The rest of my shit is all off-road. I used to race quite a bit of motocross in my mid 20's. I KNOW... bring on the hate.
my race bike: 2004 CRF250

my pit bike: crf50

My son's bike: 1986 Jr50

Play bike: 1986 DR125

1972 Honda K2 Z50:

I love this bike... I've put a lot of time and money into restoring it. Super fun ride.

Off road is my preference. Like a bunch of you have said, it's the other guy on the road that scares the shit out of me. That and DEER. DEER freak me the fuck out when I'm on the road bikes.

I just watched indiana jones with my son and he was begging me to get a side car. they look like they'd be so awkward to drive.

Virtually every bike here is a crotch rocket with a few harleys scattered throughout.  They just aren't my style at all, and I don't care about going that fast.  Also-- I like the british bikes because they are kinda unique, not many people have them, especially where I live.

This is my roommates bike

Ducati Hypermotard

Not really my style, but he is able to go fast and sit upright which he has to because he broke his back a year ago and can't lean that far over anymore

where i live now, there's a kid kicking around on that same ducati.  i almost too him out a few weeks ago when he ran a 4way stop sign.

that is straight up ballsy yall riding one of these shits, dope

This is the Ecosse Heretic, I just saw one in a magazine for the first time.  It costs 80k, which means Jay Leno is probably the only one to own one, but it looks awesome.  Kinda Mad Max meets Back To The Future

That truck looks like it's haphazardly slapped on the fender, but at least they didn't put a Grind King on it.

Nope british racing green is that really nice hunter green color, very classic color for British bikes.  Flat olive would be a non gloss paint and it's like olive green.

Here is a similar Royal Enfield to the one I was looking at.

Whenever I am done with the Army, I'll probably load up a backpack and split for 6 months to a year and try and hit all four corners of the country.

I love that thing, I remember finding it a while ago and drooling over it.  I love the cafe racer style bikes.  Ive never ridden a bike before though, they kind of scare me.  It would probably be fun to rip around back roads and stuff, but anywhere where theres traffic would be sketchy.

What the fucking hell is that thing? think I want one.

Hate, if you do a bit of googling, there's shit loads of ex military Enfields  in, and starting to come out of India. You can pick them up for about £700/$1000 + shipping, there built like fucking tanks and will run for ever, a few lads over here run them in the winter just for hacking about on.

Even though they are scary as fuck, I've always been into bikes.
My dad was a Harley guy his whole life, and built custom bikes at one point.
I would love to get me a fat Harley for cruising, and something like a GSXR 600 for going fast.

same here, i had a 150cc 1969 vespa S when i lived in vietnam. what a joy!
having one in ny would be pointless, but i'm getting a bicycle soon and i'll pretend it's a motorbike

random hot pix i have saved on my laptop:

on a side note, ive seen a few motorbikes recently that were beautiful, but with space for only the driver. if you can't fit a chick on the back, what's the point of getting a bike? wtvr
