since this is slowly turning into "how to write a paper", i would love to know what everyone's paper writing strategy at this point is on slap, after 4 years I have somewhat refined a go-to strategy where I can crank out a 15-20 pager the night before but I haven't really asked what anyone else does.

-I open a blank word doc on one monitor and tabs with all the standard databases/google scholar on the other and just search whatever I need ("galileo influence" or whatever).
-For each journal article I open I just put the title and the apa in text citation in bold in the word doc, then just speed read and type out key quotes. Generally I repeat this until I have a bare minimum of 3x the pagecount in quotes and 12 sources.
-From there I print off my word doc cause my eyes fucking burn at this point, and just organize my 30+pages of citations into an extremely well referenced 15 page paper. Writing is easy as fuck because I have such an excess of information, and chances are I will be cutting shit out of your paper to keep it from going over.

Its got me through pretty easily so far, but I know some of you in here are grad students so share your goddamn secrets

This is kind of what I do.  The desired type of writing for my profession is as "least wordy as possible" so I revise a lot and try to make things concise.  Speed reading is so crucial though.  For me, I go ABSTRACT>INTRO>WHATEVER SECTION I NEED PARTICULARLY (methods, participants, etc) and then definitely the discussion section.  Initially, I check out their references to get a body of things to go from but I try to search for articles that pertain to the same subject (i.e. AAC and literacy).  Otherwise after a while I forget what the articles are about.  I need to be more dilligent about writing concise statements as I am doing it.  ^ Thanks for the insight albatross!  You've instructed me in SC and now in other matters  Cool

Even with your method though I don't think I could write something that long (15 pgs) in one sitting or one day even.  Some people are naturally intelligent that are in grad school.  I am more of like the guy that got in because my admissions paper was stuck to the bottom of someone else's, and they didn't catch the error till it was too late.  Hanging on for dear life, waiting...hoping...

...yearning.

Just type a bunch of gibberish and see what your phone auto corrects. If you get the right jumble of letters you might get lucky. Try it for a couple days and you might just strike gold. Who knows if this works you might be able to escape the ghetto and that hoe named Jemma.

Backing this method. a thousand monkeys at a thousand typewriters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinite_monkey_theorem
