I actually did hit another skater in the face with my shoe once at a demo doing a shoes fly off kickflip but he was cool with it.

I've had pretty bad insomnia for almost two months now, it sucks big time. For the first two or three weeks I was on only 0-3 hours a night. I seriously thought I was never gonna get better and every night I'd be really anxious to go to bed in fear that I wasn't going to sleep that night, which just made the insomnia worse; it was the shittiest feeling in the world. I couldn't even skate flat for more than ten minutes without feeling like I was gonna pass out. I was prescribed amitriptyline though, which is an antidepressant but is also prescribed off-label for insomnia. It's helped make things better. Though I still wake up a few times a night, I can now sleep anywhere from 5 to 7 hours a night total. I'll still get a bad night every now and then, but for the most part it's gotten better.

I've been sleeping between 4-6 hours for 2 years now.  It sucks but I am just used to it.  My left eye has been twitching for about a year now.  I can squeeze 6 hours in if I don't touch caffeine after 1PM or so.  My insomnia comes from Iraq, divorce, and too much shit going on in my head.  My girlfriend is working on it with me though.
