I think Carl Shipman still lives in Worksop, not entirely sure if he still skates....he is married with kids though. Actually, I watched "A Visual Sound" the other night, still convinced that he is one of the greats....Remember when he beat up Mic-E-Reyes?? haha.

Man Shipman pretty much invented the frontside flip, then Penny made it famous, fuck Shipman could do frontside flips higher then a lot of pro's could ollie at the time hahaha, fuck man i've got some classic story's about him from back in the day.

Classic one, he's walking home with shit loads of shopping from where ever, someone grabs his gold chain from round his neck and runs for it, he puts his shopping down, gets a bottle of Heinz tomato sauce (it was closest) runs after said thief, SMACK, ketchup fucking everwhere and blood, beats the shit out of the thief, takes his chain back, and the one the thief had, i think he even tried to get money for more ketchup hahaha.

Back to the shops for more tomato sauce, fucking great

I saw Shipman skate about a year ago at the House skatepark in Sheffield. He's deffinitley filled out a bit but was still totally ripping. Tre flips over the driveway everytime, and ollie over to noseblunt down the block. Shipman could not skate for ten years step back on a board and still kill it he's that tallented.

I think he had an interview in Kingpin 2 or 3 years back.  At the time, he was still in Berlin, still ripping on a low key level.

Heard from a reliable source that Shipman's working in some factory somewhere, but owns his house outright from his wages on DC.  Infamous for getting shoes from 3 different companies at one stage and unfortunately burning his bridges.  He got on Cliche direct for a while, which was a surprise for the UK distributor at the time!

Jason Carney - I can't do switch 360 flips and I don't care

For real, Jason Carney was pretty damn good.  I was just thinking about some of the stuff he did in the second planet earth video, was that animal farm?  Just really interesting curb combos, backside boardslide and then pop it into a frontside boardslide, how the hell do you do that?  Lots of power too.

In a related note, I was at this used bookstore the other day and they had just tons of old thrashers, some i remember buying when I was in high school and there was a picture of this guy, I think he used to ride for black label, max evans.  He had some cool stuff.  It's neat to look at these old pictures, like he was doing a bs 50/50 on maybe a 6 stair, but it just looked so cool cuz you could see the effort and style, it was kinda tweaked, not so automatic like these days, it had some torque to it.

In the Black Label video one of the bonus things is an old video from the early 90's and he (Max Evans) has a sick part in it.
