I used to know a girl that was super clingy with boyfriends. When they tried to dump her, she would claim she was pregnant to get them to stay longer. One dude actually manned up one time and demanded to see the pregnancy test and she just said she threw it away weeks ago but waited to tell him. my high school history teacher sort of did this.  he actually did have cancer and had to have part of his throat removed, but they got it all.  but he kept on telling people he had to go away to get surgeries and chemo and shit, when really he was going on vacation with his wife.  when he said he was having chemo, he seriously just shaved his fucking head.  i always knew he was a liar, and when i heard about all this a couple years ago, i laughed my ass off.

by the way, this teacher was also our football coach, and he was in "rudy."  no lie.  he's the big dude who started the slow clap.
