When i was a kid a friend of mine helped me skitch just over 40 on two occasions, the second one I fell and got really fucked up. I can't imagine that shit... pretty fucking amazing. Even if you hate longboards, just being on a plank and going that fast takes some titanium balls.

this is probably one of the most insane things i can think of to do on a board in the risk category. i mean, sector nine had a vid a few years ago with some of their dudes going downhill and those dudes were in some fucked up slams. like sliding for a hundred feet into a corner wall made of haystacks type slams. one dude got up and smiled with a bloody back and teeth and went, "i LIKE to go FAAAAAST!". at that moment, i realized that those dudes are fucked in the head and i love it.

cant believe anyones knocking this. long boarding sucks because those guys push mongo while listening to jack johnson on their i pods. this dude is going 80 FUCKING MILES AN HOUR. unfuckwithable.

Co-sign. I'd say 90%+ of the kooks with longboards are awkwardly mongo pushing around in their DC (Adio, etc.) moonboots or mandals or mall grabbing their trucks as they walk uphill.  At those speeds the longer wheelbase and softer wheels probably help a lot.  The guys in the videos get a pass because they are crazy; just about everyone else I see will never need to or be able to go that fast so it's just a unnecessarily heavy fashion accessory.
