the song on "The Life Pursuit,"  titled "To Be myself completely,"  is soooo good.  I also like "For the price of a cup of tea."  Any Belle and Sebastian Fans?

Yeah Stevie is great in that track. "The Life Pursuit" is so much better than "Dear Catastrophe Waitress". But its still good.

I saw them in July at the Hollywood Bowl, which was suppose to be their biggest show ever. Great show, they played alot of my favorite songs (Sleep the Clock Around, The Model, Jonathan David).Stuart ran through the audience, up and down the rows. Reminded me of Axl Rose. They did encores and at the end the audience rushed to the stage and sang with the band for the last song, boy with the arab strap.

I think If You're Feeling Sinister is one of the most fabulous albums of my lifetime...a little bit of Me and the Major, maybe some Fox in the Snow, or perhaps Dylan in the Movies...ah, classic.

I'll agree with the new material being a bit poppy, which I don't like so much, but there are still wonderful rays of sunshine amongst more rays of mediocre-ish poppy sun beams...

Using "simple things" from arab strap for the lost and found intro worked prefectly. So good.

I also like their abstract album titles that make no sense, but seems they do.

I've been thinking about this for a long time...thought I was the only one who couldn't translate the mysteries of "If You're Feeling Sinister," or ever the infamous "Boy with the Aran Strap."  any second opinions?

If you are feeling sinister, go off and see a minister...it rhymes, listen to the song.

I've never understood the significance of the arab strap, but because of what it is it's probably some form of in-joke

"the boy with the arab strap" is also a line from a song.

i don't see how anyone could read any farther into it than a boy with an arab strap.  i guess if you don't know what an arab strap is, then it could be confusing.  i think the line is "she was laid on her back with the boy with the arab strap".

I didn't, so I looked it up. I understand what it means, just not why it's in the song.

It's not really important I guess.

However, I will say that Mary Jo is the best song they've ever written...in my humble opinion

I was joking...expanding on the "abstract titles" theme.

Lazy Line Painter Jane, My Wandering Days Are Over and Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying are my favorite songs.  I don't know why.

my favorite/s is/are "get me away from here I'm dying," and "If you're feeling sinister," the little piano solo ate the beginning of the latter, how they both go together...fabulous.

me and jared listen to them all the time.
