Dude, i'm wearing one now! But that's only due to breaking my only belt skating on the weekend... i got a bit too extended on those layback wallrides.

the only reason to wear one is because its not as constricting as a regular belt.

shoelace is uncomfortable to me, to get it to hold up your pants it starts digging into you. I like a fat leather belt. Shit, its an appreciation thread. Pros skate better with those, there, consider it appreciated

Been using them off and on since the early 90's. I have a ton of laces from the second pair that come with shoes.

shoelace belts are not a hipster phenomenon. they've been around a while.

The first Blind jeans had a lace belt included and that was 1992 or 1993.

a bum was asking me for some money a couple years ago somewheres in north philly. he started getting kinda heated and demanded i give him 5 dollars, but i kept telling him there was no way he was getting anything. his argument was that he was fresh outta rehab, but his eyes were bloodshot as hell and i called him out on that. without even arguing with me he lifted up his shirt and said "man i got a shoelace for a belt"... so i lifted up my shirt and told him i did too.... he just walked away. haha that story sucks but its the only thing i thought of when i read this thread

they are so much better because there is no predetermined holes like on leather belts. and they are just a little thing like when you pop you don't feel it diggin into your side.
they are good

that's like saying tight pants can't be trendy because there have been some skaters wearing them the whole time....
