Can anyone give me some information on the skateplaza in Oakland? I recall some people saying it was in a sketchy part of town. Is this true? Would you recommend a "tourist" like me going there?

In the hood. Nobody's going to fuck with you unless you're an over the top kook, but it's hood. Don't leave your keys lying around. Shred.

Thanks for the tips. Any other suggestions for parks in that area that maybe aren't quite as sketchy?

I could tell before it was even done that the east Oakland park was going to be a good place to get robbed before it was done. The conversation was something like
"There's going to be a sick new plaza in Oakland!"
"Where?"
"East Oakland, right next to Castlemont High School."
"Nevermind."
I used to sub at Castlemont, and that area is definitely gnarly as fuck. Of course, there are plenty of kids who live there everyday and survive.
Lake merritt bart has some fun shit to skate, and there are a few decent plazas around downtown Oakland by like 14th and broadway (which I believe is also the location of a bart spot)

That's westlake middle school my friend.
And the brown banks (cover of like half of the issues of Kobrah) are right nearby too. I can't explain how to get there though, I always end up just kind of wandering until I find it.

My bad, I assumed elementary school for some reason.
If you're into handrails there's a perfect 7 basically on the water right by westlake, laney community college has a cool rainbow ledge and curved ledge, on the side of the lake with laney is the courthouse ten (cairo nollie clipped in the tiltmode video, nosegrinded the ledge next to it in fully flared), the brown banks from Kobrah and the driveway ledge from OIAM 09 are across the lake from downtown.
