Here's what I see in this thread:
1) People bitch about skateboarding becoming too fashion conscious.
2) People dictate was is and is not "proper" skate apparel.
3) People give excuses for what they wear.

Grow a pair and just wear what you want to wear. It's sad to see people become so paranoid that they feel the need to justify themselves on something as trivial as the way they dress. It's also weird to see people who "don't give a fuck" about fashion noticing every little fashion trend in skateboarding. If they don't give a fuck why does it bother them so much?

I wasn't really making any generalizations about peoples economic brackets, i just mean the trend of being anti-trend is getting absurd. People are increasingly dressing in flannels and dickies, or whatever, so a few people start pointing out their popularity. Uber conscious kids won'twear/stop wearing them to not be trendy, and in turn hate on people who are wearing a shirt they made an effort not to. Now being opposed to flannels and beanies is "cooler" than actually wearing them.

Thus, the hedging of the trendiest thing you can ever do: hating on the old trend. As long as you hate on whatever is popular, you'll always be the coolest kid in school, right?

being anti-trendy is trendy, its a catch 22.  you can't really win.
99% of the people that are a part of your life now, won't be a part of your life in the future, so whats the point of caring?
