I'd go with no. If your board was bigger, then yeah. But in your case the wheels will pretty much be flush with the board, making it less sensitive to changes in weight distribution. I like my shit similar to what you've described and I like my trucks a bit smaller than the width of my board. Lots of people swear their grinds get better, and their boards feel more stable with wide trucks, but it sounds like stable is something you might not want.

Yes I rock the 8.25 and have 149's. DO IT! best thing you could do for yourself. anyone else's opinion is wrong listen to me and Victor. You'll find it's easier to grind and you'll have more balance. Why you frettin?

I have mine loose enough to zig and zag too.

I just switched from 139's to 149's not too long ago, currently skating an 8.25 deck. The switch isn't too bad; still trying to get used to flip tricks with them, but grinds are a lot easier to lock into and overall they feel more stable, which i like. The weight increase is somewhat noticeable at first too, had to pop and flick my tricks harder than i normally would, but eventually i got used to it. They feel a lot looser than my 139's but they have a mellower turning response to them, if that makes sense.

I think the real question is... Why the fuck would you want trucks that don't match the width of your board?

^^I don't know of any trucks that have 8.25" axles. Most have 8" or 8.5" axles, so you'll have to go a little bigger or a little smaller if you're on that size board. Narrower trucks will give you more turning radius and a more squirrelly feel. Some people like that.

When Victor recommends something you should do the opposite of what he says, he can't even nosegrind a park ledge.

Yeah, 139s with an 8.25 go perfectly. Even like 8.38 with 139s feels fine for me. Fuck having your trucks sticking out.

While I'm at it, I just set up my Flickr account to correspond with iPhoto.  Why the fuck don't the images show up on this message board when I put the link in to the insert image bullshit?

Oh yah wut iz dis kickflip u taak abowtz?

Be a leader and make the switch to go smaller. 8"+ boards were so 2010.

I prefer smaller trucks with a bigger board cuz it is a lot easier to bust out 3 flips and i like to get my carve on.

yeah, flipping your board might change a little, but you certainly wont regret it. the super wide wheelbase is awesome. i put a shitload of washers between the wheel and the truck to get maybe an extra 1/2 inch, it fucking rules. I would even recommend 149s for 8.125. makes your board feel giant, but in a good way..

I had 129's on a 7.75 and it felt like a hover board.  139's on a 7.75 is a perfect fit.  I couldn't even imagine 139's on an 8.25.  uber hover board.

Thunders 149s are 8,25, but I think that Indy stopped making 149s into 8,25, and they are now 8,5.  Correct me If its wrong, Im not 100 percent sure, I skate Thunders so I dont really care about other trucks.

I also went from thunder 147 to 149 on a 8.25, the first couple of days was weird, but now I can't imagine going back.  Stuff like smith grinds are easier now, more space.
