Help with skate shoe sizing and synthetic recs -'es, circa, axion, dvs, dc, etc.

I need some help with skate shoe sizing. I haven't worn skate shoes in years so I'm out of touch with how sizes work. I would just go to a local shop but they're aren't any good ones nearby so I'm stuck with online shopping.
For reference:
I usually wear a size 9.5 in Adidas running shoes like the Marathon 10. I take a size 9 in Brooks running shoes like the GTS adrenaline.
I just got a pair of size 9 'Es Accels in the mail and they're too small. My toes press right up against the outside edge of the toecap. They are too small. Not sure if I would need 9.5 or 10 in these to make them fit. How much do the sizes differ in 'Es shoes? I want them to fit snugly but not so tight that I'll get bloody toes after skating in them. Also don't want them to flop around on my feet.
Another thing, I need some recs for synthetic skate shoes with cupsoles and a decent amount of padding. Are there any good ones from Axion, DVS, DC, Circa, etc. that I should check out?
These Accels that I just tried on actually are synthetic...they're a spring '10 colorway that appears to be sold out at most places unfortunately. I'm not into floppy canvas shoes with vulcanized soles so don't suggest those. Not going to drop $100 on a pair of Zoom FPs so those are out.

I wear a size 9 in es/emerica/lakai vulcs, but for cupsoles, i have to wear a size 10 in es/emerica. I noticed i am a 9 in most vulcs but a 10 in cupsoles.

My true size is 13.5, and no skate company makes that size. So I'm always hesitant of ordering without knowing how a show fits.
You don't even have a mall around with a zumiez, journeys, or pacsun? I don't have a local shop so I usually go to one of them to find how a shoe fits, then hit up a shop with mailorder like SPoT or liberty etc.

I ended up getting a pair of 'eS Sagas from a store with free shipping and returns. I got a 9.5 and a 10 and the 9.5 fit perfectly. Going to return the 10s. Looking forward to skating them when the weather warms up.
I think there are Journeys and PacSun stores in a nearby mall but I usually avoid those places.
There aren't any Zumiez stores nearby. I'd never even heard of them until recently.
