Berra is to Koston as Dune is to J Lee. Berra and Dune ride their homie's coat tails (or ride their dicks; however you wanna put it) so that they can stay relevant in skateboarding. Both Dune and Berra's pro skate careers should have ended many years ago.
How is Dune riding Jason's coat tails? Dune's been the mountain dew guy for like a decade. Couldn't be any more unrelated to what and who Jason works with. If Dune wanted to ride coat tails he would have been riding his brothers years ago.

seriously, i would like to see a real steve berra/ eric koston comment like jamie thomas did back in the day when i was simply lurking. like what they really think about that. i mean, i wouldnt believe it because it mostly is about the money i guess, i just think it would be entertaining.

Wow. You guys just love hating Berra. Hate to break it too you but there is so much mis-information coming out of you guys its unbelievable. Does anyone on here have any idea what it takes to run even a small business, let alone a big one? The Berrics really doesn't make the millions you all think it does. It also cost a lot to keep that place running. Kids want Berrics clothing, that makes sense to me. It cost a shit load and takes a lot of work to launch a propped clothing line, so the Berrics is getting help from a company that knows how to do it.
I dont love Steve Berra but he's been nice to me when I've seen him, and the Berrics puts out some good skate videos. Sure, I'm sick of hearing kids talk in Berrics lingo. Bangin this, battle commander that, but that is not nearly enough for me to hate the Berrics like most of you do. It's no worse than shake junt.

dude, you don't get it. people don't hate berra for any of those things on their own, they hate him because instead of coming clean and just approaching this as the business that it is, he tried to put some lame ass spin on it and pretty much declared that he was doing this to "save skateboarding".
the reason people dont rip on koston for this is because he never did that, he never went out of his way to say that he was doing this for the sake of skateboarding, and how without the berrics local shops would go bankrupt and be taken over by huge corporations that aren't true to skating.
and then what does berra do? sell it to a huge company that isn't true to skateboarding. again, this would not be an issue if it wasn't so outrageously hypocritical.

it just seems like anytime anyone hates on the things berra does, he has an explanation that is pretty solid. the dude is kind of weird, yeah. he talks a lot (if you think the berrics is a lot, imagine hanging out with him for a few hours). but aside from his personality, steve berra is trying to use the position he is in to help skateboarding. no matter what you guys think of the influence his website is having (kids playing SKATE, sk8 dice, "bangin", "buttery", etc)...yea that shit is annoying when you are 25 and thats all kids talk about, but what isnt annoying about 15 year old skateboarders? its a generational thing, not steve berras fault. also, think about the other shit the berrics does. provides awesome videos of awesome skating that we wouldnt normally see. it also helps out local shops. i work in a shop and can tell you of at least 20 different times people have said "yea i saw you guys on the berrics so i had to check you out when i was in town". thats awesome.
bottom line is that berra may do some weird shit and you might not like him, but the dude isnt out there to be rich, and he really is trying to do his best to take advantage of his connections and position to help make skateboarding more accepted (more skate parks, less hassle), as well as helping your favorite pro skaters and skateboard shops.

I made fun of Metal Mulisha on my blog yesterday and I just got a call at my house at midnight long distance from some dude with the douchiest voice I've ever heard in my life.
"You think Metal Mulisha is something to make fun of? Metal Mulisha is THE SHIT! Huh? You think that's something funny CANADA BOY?! We're gonna KICK your fuckin ASS! You know my boy Steve? We're gonna KICK your fuckin ASS! CANADA BOY! When you least expect it. In your own town. Metal Mulisha IS THE SHIT!"
He kept laughing like a fuckin pro wrestling character. It was the best.

berra had nothing to do with stoner.
I had a brief email conversation with a guy from the city that helped get Stoner made and he mentioned Berra and Dyrdek hosting events at the park, I guess somehow I thought he was implying they were involved in the creation. After rereading the emails, I think I'm wrong.
Saw him there opening day too, probably was just there trying to figure out how to make money off it cause he sure as hell didn't go to skate, noooo that would be crazy. He just walked around fielding Berrics questions from groms.

This is somewhat predictable that they got bought out haha. Steve probably felt limited and wanted to expand even more. I am pretty sure the entire staff at the park would prob get the boot though considering they are all under new management now. those guys are awesome, hopefully that's not the case..
