I wish, I don't know anyone from Footprint. But I say give us (the skate community) free pairs to test. If we like them we should buy them. I'm sure every other skater's experience will be different.

If you want a strong arch, don't support that shit. Wear flat shoes. Your feet aren't designed to be coddled, they're designed to disperse impact across the three main points (the balls and the heel). Your arch needs to be strong so that your foot will take impact the way it's supposed to - it's not designed to take impact on the arch. Arch support for 90+% of people is a load of crap. A lot of foot pain people have is because their arch isn't strong enough because they've supported it too much and their foot doesn't handle impacts well as a consequence. I used to think that arch support would solve my foot problems (just sore feet all the time from skating and having a job where I'm on my feet all day) but I've found exactly the opposite to be true. Just wanted to throw my two cents in
high impact activity like skating or distance destroys the heel and ball of the foot, in turn putting more stress on the arch.
people's feet don't initially need arch support but develop the need over time.
i'm at the point where walking on any surface that isn't organically placed, like sand, grass, or dirt, hurts when wearing anything but running shoes.

I was diagnosed with flat feet and been wearing orthopedic soles for 2 years now, just not while skating. This is such a standard debate: my two cents - the soles appear to be helping, I'm got a slightly better arc already. However, my case was not really that severe - no pain to speak of, just the lack of arc.

If your soles are flat, they are already deformed. Having the insoles fit the contours of your soles won't help in that case. You need proper orthopedic insoles.

depending on the doctor, podiatrist/ortho, when looking into custom inserts there are gel inserts and solid inserts. try to see sports medicine doctors. many podiatrists deal primarily with geriatric patients who have things going on like bunions. that's no help to an active younger person

yeah, there's no way in hell I'm blowing $50 on insoles unless I see and hear something really convincing. I like my cheap ass gel insoles that I've been using for ages. I like the squishy feeling on my heels, especially in vulcs.
I also like that my insoles never run the risk of sharing a dirty needle.

If you watch the video, the syringe doesn't have a needle. It's just flat. Doubt it could do harm of any kind.

My wife got some full sole custom orthotics several years ago and they are super thick and stiff. She doesn't even wear them anymore. If she did it again, she said she'd get the 3/4 sole ones.
I've never had orthotics but I do have 3 sets of old Dr. Scholl's 3/4 length leather arch supports (now discontinued for whatever strange reason). They were recommended to me by a physiotherapist years ago. I had gotten tendonitis in my knee due to lack of support of my shoes, being a chronic pronator and overall bad posture. I'm very conscious of all three of those now. Skating doesn't really contribute to any of those things positively. General skate trends and style lean toward no support and/or don't tie your shoes tight.
These Footprint insoles seem sorta interesting but I think I'd rather spend the $50 on an insert from one of those Dr Scholl's machines or get some custom made ones. My current set up seems to be fine, for now.
