That's a tough one. It's a toss up between, Johnny cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson. I'll leave it at that.

The Jim Phillips Screaming Hand is an enduring ICON that represents skateboard culture in general.

As a professional skateboarder for Santa Cruz, and someone who has actually commissioned THE MAN* for graphics... what are your fucking thoughts?

*Or was it Jimbo?

And for the record, I would like to reinforce the idea that Jim Phillips' mixture of hot rod art and surf aesthetics translates into what is timeless, iconic skate culture imagery. Dude created the Indy logo. The Rob Roskopp. The Natas panther. Claus Grabke. MY PERSONAL FAVORITE, RAY MEYER BUSINESS DUDE. Those graphics feaked me out, they were so sick.

Weigh in, son.

*Or was it Jimbo? It was Jimbo. I've never had a graphic done by the OG Phillips, although I would love to! He was about to once and then things got dramatic. I love all of Jim Phillips art, and the screaming hand is enduring as are a bunch of his graphics. My fucking thoughts are this; Both Jim Phillips and Jimbo Phillips art is rad and should either be hung up or skated and beaten to shit, you choose! SC por vida!

Emmanuel,

There is a guy that I would see at derby every once in awhile who skated like Julien Stranger.  He has a neck tattoo and looks tough as fuck.  One time he rode up on his cruiser and stuck his knife in the spokes.  He does shuv-it lips and slappy front boards going fast as hell on the slider at the top of the snake run.  Do you know who I'm talking about or anything about this guy?  I think he's my favorite skateboarder...

Yes, apparently he did it in 1988 when he went by the name "Jim Phillips".

Hi Eman
In 'Prevent this Tragedy', I was stoked to see you skating the 'Swiss Banks' (they have also been skated by Jeff Hedges and Claus Grabke in 'Streets on Fire' back in the day). I also skated these banks a lot when I was younger, as I live in the same town about 2 miles away from them. I was just wondering how you liked them and if you got kicked out while you were filming there. If yes, how was your reaction to the security guard. You are one of the pros who made me start skating again after so many years (I originally started in '84). Greetings from Switzerland! Smiley

That rules you are skating again! I was born in 1984, so that's extra rad!
We never got kicked out from the spot, and were able to film as long as we wanted, minus some rain. I love that spot! It is one of the most incredible places i've ever  seen! I will skate them again, I have too! Greetings back at you from SC!

Your canvas in the new Thrasher is sick. You and Santa Cruz should turn the one with the lion-demons into a blacklight poster and have it come with one of your boards
