apples is a smooth ass motherfucker, his style looks like he learnt to skate before he learnt to walk, just so natural
the sequence/picture of him nollieflipping over a rail into a bank is just so perfect and will never be forgotten, pity i cant find it

I'm not talking shit...I was just thinking how no one really went crazy when his Extermely Sorry part came out and it looks like no one really talks about him anymore, whereas Gino, for instance still gets mentioned all the time still. ? If you fast forward through that stupid intro shit, that Extremely Sorry part is fucking amazing.
How has his Quattro part never been uploaded on Youtube or anything? ? I never bought it because it was free when Trio came out. ? Was that even a full part?

always loved appleyard, saw him skating when he was bou t14, the guy has the incredible natural touch that is seen very rarely.
It is bummy that he has jumped around alot, but dude got paid.
The only thing that has every bothered me is that he wants to become an american citizen.
He brought skateboarding to a new level of stanards in the early to mid 2000s.

Appleyard will be rememberd as Tom Penny's stoner friend who is so sick at skating
I always thought Penny was the stoner friend (also sick at skating of course).

The most laid back style ever, makes the hardest shit look like a walk in the park. I can't even count how many times I've watched his Sorry part.

I thought we were gonna be talking about the Gonz. This is stupid.
I thought this was going to be talking about Whitley and how Slap is going to hell.
Saw Apples at a volcom demo last summer. Wedge to waist high ledge, tre flip 5050, zero effort. It was incredible.

I was thinking the same
apples its good, but lazy as fuck, he said he was "done" with most of his extremely sorry part years before it was released... it could have been something like MJ's lakai part ... but wasn't

I don't think there is anyway Appleyard will be remembered in a bad light....the guy is amazing. Sure he has made some bad career moves but all of them put money in his pocket that hopefully he can retire on and after all is said and done no one can ever take his video parts away. So many good ones but his Sorry and Really Sorry parts will go down in history as some of the best and timeless video parts ever. Not to mention his I.E. part which was also amazing and his Extremely Sorry part which was also very sick. The guy really pushed the envelope for skating in Sorry and Really Sorry and did it with true style...sure he's sort of a 'bro' and I can talk shit on that or whatever but at the end of the day Appleyard rules it.

I was thinking this was going to be about the Gonz, but I was hoping it was going to be about Gator. Wrong on both counts.
Isn't that funny how the two biggest pros to ride for Vision are both named Mark?

hahahah I wish I could say I strongly disagree... but if I'm honest, I only sort of do.

Style is an intriguing thing.
Mark Appleyard's First Video Part?
I think there's a Northern Exposure video part that pre-dates this part.
He also had a few tricks in a Cartel video, around the same era.
He was always so good.

I'm really glad someone took a stand and started this thread, it needs to be addressed.
I'm from Mark's hometown. When he was coming up, it was so dope and everyone was psyched on him. He legitimately deserved his cred and was really pushing the envelope with the nollie tech and flip into rails. I have no idea what happened, but I guess age, unecessary maturity and most of all money got to him after the Really Sorry days. I feel like he totally fell off in terms of passion and integrity for skating and just became more about the industry and not caring at all about the genuine act of skating. This may be harsh, and I almost feel blasphemous to diss a hometown hero like this, but I feel like it has to be said.
1) Thrasher's First Look- "Skater of the year... Sheckler? Don't ever give it to him." After Sheckler's X Games 16 winning run, anyone who a) was there b) watched the webcast c) saw recorded video clearly saw Apples walk up, high five and homie hug Shecks as he was walking off the course just before his post-run interview.
2) "The Genuine Remorse of Mark Appleyard" Thrasher Interview-
"In fact, the last time we did an interview you spoke specifically about how you had gotten rid of your luxury car. You said, at that time, that luxury cars were stupid. What made you change your mind? I know these days you have two luxury cars and have even purchased some men?s jewelry. What changed?"
"What about this jewelry? This is the weirdest part to me.
I bought two Rolexes. I spent $18,000 on two Rolexes."
"I sure hope so. Appleyard the jean. Appleyard the Volcom pant. You know, just keep the name on the product and keep it out there for purchase."
This sounds worse than a J. Casanova track. What's next? Appleyard the fragrance?
3) Globe "United By Fate"?!?!- Dude's braggin about being filming for Extremely sorry in 2004 ("I know that the rest of the Flip team is killing themselves to finish this video; however, I heard a rumor that you finished your part years ago. Yes I did. The bulk of it I finished in 2004, right after the SOTY, when I was really on fire."), and just sitting collecting checks instead of putting out a UBF like every other Globe Pro.
4) ESPN Interview- "I'd like to have a place in California and a place in British Columbia. Then I'd be ballin.'"
Ballin'??! Thanks Jim Jones.
5) Arnette Welcome Video- EVERYTHING in that video had been filmed and shown in the old Volcom warehouse session videos. At least don't show the exact same trick on the exact same PARK ledge.
I feel bad just writing this. I understand getting older and not being able to throw yourself down huge shit anymore, it's just a shame to see one of the very few Canadian pros to seriously make it fall off like he has. If you're not into it anymore, start a company and be less in the spotlight. It's just all about the money for him now, nothing to do with skating at all. He'll come out and throw a tre flip if there's a cheque involved, but that's about it. It's just so obvious he's not into it anymore, I'd rather see Mike Vallely pull some boneless' because I know he's loving it every second.

^Yes, I was going to say that about the money. His interview in the extremely sorry thrasher issue is pretty fucking sad. And then he left for element, not habitat or krooked, element. Oh what a $urprise.

Always liked Appleyard , Dude had good and amazing clips in lots of 411vms , 2 transworld vids , all the Flip vids and some Habitat vids .
Always smooth style and great trick selection . I guess in some ways reminded me off Penny .
Circa had a sick team back then eh ? Muska , thomas , Cannon , Appleyard , Cole , Berry and some other dudes I cant remember right now , fucking hell I was stoked on Circa back when they first came out
Anyways 2 things I didnt like about Appleyard
His weird attitude about not being canadian anymore ? , wtf is that shit about . you are where you are from , and I dont see any reason to be ashamed of being canadian , I mean its a good country .
And the other one that made me super bummed about him was first making a interview about him wanting to skate forever , and was not above to take a regular job down the line . Makes you think of him like a stand up guy , not about money and not affraid to work a normal job like most of us do . And at the same time he seemd fucking stoked to skate forever
then next thing you know hes making a interview about stacking cash , buying expensive lame shit like cars , watches and so on and saying hes slowing down and hasnt really been trying .
But all in all the dude is sick , great style and so on , seems like a pretty nice dude too . Guess when you get serius about a girl and marrige , and have kids , priorities change and its hard to know everything about someone from just interviews and short berric clips

element shits on flip all day long. appleyard is riding the wave, and if he wanted to go out and film some gnarly shit we all know he is more than capable to do so. if i could have live the life of one pro skater it would probably be mark appleyard. has two 5 series bmw's, travels the world at his leisure, former soty, numerous amazing video parts, and making money. how you gunna hate?
?
He probably got some bad bitches too.

Say what you will about Extremely Sorry, but Rowley was doing impossibles over roof gaps and getting arrested while Appleyard was buying luxury cars and watches.

what was it treflip...foot set up...kickflip back tail bigspin out!
that right there and the fact that i used to watch his parts like every day make it hard to hate.
doing nollie heels into grinds is something i will never ever understand.
or that line that he ends by jumping over the pole, classic.

There's still a bunch of ad's and pix that I've never seen footage of. The macba bigflip, kickflip 5-0 nosebonk out down that hubba. Both were sequences so where is that stuff?

there's worst qualities in a person than wanting to provide for your family and buy some nice things with your hard earned money

skateboarders have no memory. can you tell me your favorite guy in hokus pokus? only the old guys can. and that was the most groundbreaking video of all time. what about the first nollie flip in a video? anyone? didnt think so. appleyard is an amazing skater with a great style. if people can consider muska a legend and question appleyard, they should stop living.
