I know it's a comedy website, but the author for this article makes a pretty compelling argument for how all this stuff could occur without it being some crazy force. I think the only thing he doesn't explain is the broken bones with no soft tissue damage, but that can be explained by scavenging animals too. Krokodil is a poor form of heroin and other opiates that causes large, festering sores at its injection sites.  Not mentioned in Wikipedia, but I read it in an article, the high only lasts a little longer than it takes to cook the drug, so it's not uncommon for krokodil addicts to get stuck in day long krokodil binges of shooting up, cooking, coming down, shooting up again immediately, starting to cook again, etc.
