this whole page hes showing us how much he doesn't watch basketball. kevin love is a boxscore readers wet dream.
kevin love didn't make the playoffs, don't talk to me about being in contention for mvp.
dude CAN'T DEFEND. Duncan is one of hte best defenders in the league
Duncan has one of the highest basketball IQs in the league
Duncan is still really good on offense
Duncan knows what it takes to win a championship.
please start watching basketball and stop jacking off to box scores.
please, I don't watch basketball?
Kevin Love is playing in Minnesota. do you realize where that team was at last year? or how much he carried that team to be not an embarrassment? You're one of those guys that gives the MVP to the best player on the team with one of the top records and not to the player that is most valuable. I'm not even saying he should be one, I'm saying he should be in the conversation.
Answer me this. Do you honestly think the Timberwolves would have been as decent as they were if you swapped Love for Duncan?? Do you honestly believe anyone would give a shit about Duncan he had this same type of season on a mediocre/crappy team?
Duncan is on a team where he fits absolutely perfectly, he has one of the greatest coaches who knows exactly how to play him. The Spurs are deep and play as a team rather than being lead by a superstar, but it is Tony Parker that does most of the heavy lifting now.
Don't give me this "he knows how to win a championship" bullshit. He is a good player with a good IQ on a good team, it's not fucking brain surgery.
Take away Duncan's legacy. Go by what each player did this season. Duncan is still a solid player and has remained an effective player at his age, but he is not one of the best defenders in the league anymore nor he is still"really good" on offense. DO not tell me I don't watch basketball and then drop that assessment.

How many T'Wolves games have you even watched?
Love has a limited variety of post moves and isn't a good defender + He settles for mid-range jumpers too often.
Duncan can affect games with his inside presence alone.
I've watched many. I was caught up with them when that team was clicking with Rubio.
Love is still learning the game. but so what? the guy still carried the timberwolves offensively. There is a reason he finished in the top 5 in scoring.
Duncan can affect games with his inside presence alone? great analysis there charles barkley. Kevin Love affects every game with his rebounding and scoring.

you can't be very valuable to your team when you're a 12th seed and suck at defense. SORRY.

So when Kobe was averaging over 35 points a game on a team whose starting lineup was Kwame Brown, Chris Mihm, Smush Parker, and Luke Walton and finished a few games above .500 you automatically dismiss how valuable he is because the team (as awful as that roster was) because they finished the season poorly with a low seeding? Do you realize who is on that Minnesota team? You take away Love they would be the bobcats.
Love is no defensive stopper, but the guy is not a huge liability like you are making it out to be.

Pretty sure the consensus of people agree he individually is MVP material, but the writers who vote on it look at standings and all that jazz. Not going to pretend to know his game on account of never being able to see a T wolves game.

i never said love wasn't valuable to his team. i wouldn't argue that was an mvp year for kobe either. you take out kobe or love and a shit team goes from being shit to shittier. you don't award mvps based on that. you have to be in the playoffs otherwise the award becomes whos the best player surrounded by scrubs?
And yet Duncan is a defensive GOAT. offensively talented players who play shitty defense are a dime a dozen in this league, you simply are not going to find a PF who is as skilled as Duncan defensively and offensively.
p.s. kobe plays D

The spurs be SERVIN niggas lowkey as fuck. Even with their winning record people stay sleeping on em, at least during the regular season. It'll be interesting to see how far they advance thru the playoffs.

Two words, one name: Ricky Rubio
Kevin Love had been putting up meaningless stats since last season (when we had the worst record, by the way), but it wasn't until Ricky came around that our team started having any type of success.
Now, what happened when Rubio got hurt? A downward spiral that included an 11 game losing streak. Where was our MVP at that point? Putting up big numbers and losing games on the defense side of the ball, that's where.
It all boils down to winning games, and Kevin Love's monster numbers aren't leading the team to victory.

Knicks fell apart right before halftime...went from a 3 point game, to an 11 point game and never came back...
Bulls / 76er's tonight should be good - they match up well.
I'm Pullin' for the Bulls - I like watching Lucas and Noah.

Those on Twitter should follow @NotBillWalton

"Kobe might not be able to play because of bad health and Chris Anderson was arrested by Colorado State Police. I just love opposite day!"

Fuckouttahere!
So because I have the NBA package and watch Timberwolve games when I can that makes me a bandwagoner? I'm a Laker fan, but most of all I am a fan of the game. I don't root for the t-wolves to win or anything; I just like good and exciting basketball. of course I would now want to talk, why else would I care about the timberwolves in years past?
Since you cannot seem to comprehend what I have been saying I'll try to tell you again. I didn't say Kevin Love should be the MVP, can you get that through your head? I said he should be the category of 5 or 6 players who should be considered. The reason the Timberwolves got off to a .500 start was due to the combination of Rubio and Love. If Love goes down with an injury that team is back to being in the same level as the bobcats. When a good player is on a shitty team but puts up amazing numbers, there has to be a point where you at least acknowledge his value. That is what the MVP is about. Value. You can't write off a great player as just a meaningless stat filler just because he is playing on a shitty team in Minnesota. In my opinion I think it should go to Chris Paul, but Durant or Lebron is fine. Paul carries the clippers team on his back, without him I don;t even know if they make the playoffs. But forget the MVP talk that was not even what the argument was about.
it seems you have gotten lost in this whole debate, which was originally about saying Duncan is better than Kevin Love at this point in their careers. If you put love on the spurs and duncan on the t-wolves, what would happen? Aside from maybe Lebron or Chris Paul, I'm not sure there is any player that could make the timberwolves minus rubio look good.

^ that might be the boldest/dumbest statement i have ever read in a slap sports thread, which is saying something. Duncan got a DNP this year for being old. Pop literally put, "old" as the reason, so don't make duncan out to be some kind of savior if you were to put him on any other team. without the help of tony parker and the young up and comers that the spurs have, and i would add ginobli to that list but he didnt play much, the spurs wouldnt be where they are. they have tons of great pieces, namely leonard and splitter, who play great team ball together. The spurs d isnt what it used to be, they are more of an offensive team these days albeit they play d when they have to. they run the tom brady system which is essentially, "we are going score a bunch of points lets see if you guys can keep up." it works well. if you put tim duncan on a sub 500 team they arent making the playoffs and thats not because tim duncan is past his prime, which he is, its because most sub 500 teams lack the experience/chemistry. michael jordans wizards were 4 games short of 500 and in the eastern conference where sub 500 teams make the playoffs, guess what, they didnt.

edit: yeah i'm being a big tim duncan homer right now but it's only because i feel people vastly underrate him because of his age. Dude still puts up great stats if you look at the minutes he plays, and Duncan isn't exactly a stat-machine. Not to mention if you actually watch him you see his impact on the court is still huge. I mean hell, KG is like the third best centre in the league right now and thats not even his natural position.
