Thought i'd make a topic on the subject matter. Super psyched on both these things, I spend a lot of time reading about both things, even though I should be studying (like right now).

I'll get this thread rolling with a few links -

One of my favourite ones -

Interesting as fuck, watched a documentary on this one. Tried to come with several theories hah.

I think it took me an hour to read this, captivating as fuck, worth a read for sure -

I think this thread has promise....

albert fish
http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/notorious/fish/index.html
this guy has a story that is so freaking insane that i'm surprised it wasn't a fictional plot for a movie.

http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/notorious/gein/bill_1.html
everyone knows about ed gein. but if you dont have a read, he is the inspiration behind the texas chainsaw massacre, psycho and silence of the lambs and probably many many more.

I'm currently reading through the beaumont children article you posted. That happened in my home town and i always heard about it but for some reason never looked into it.

it was pretty full on. i've driven through snowtown and past the old bank where the barrels were stored literally hundreds of times but now it has a whole new meaning. the story was freaking huge when it was first discovered. i remember thinking that this can't real, that it was some true horror movie shit. speaking of which the movie based on the events is amazing. its not especially graphic but more of a character study and taken very seriously. it could have easily been another torture exploitation film thankfully it didn't go that route.

if you have an hour watch the documentary about it.

at least 5 socks have disappeared in my washing-machine in the last 4 months. its quite mysterious.

also, sometimes when i talk to a nice girl at a bar, they often disappear mysteriously after having to go to the toilet.

maybe there is some serial killer involved too.

Every time I open one of these wikipedia pages I see the picture of Jimmy Wales and think "you sick fuck" before remembering he isn't serial killer/murderer/kidnapper I am about to read about.

Great thread, I would gnar you if I knew how to. I remember hearing about the Dyatlov pass incident before and thought that was by far some of the weirdest shit. I mean coming up with the conclusion that a "compelling unknown force" did the damage is something you never hear. You never know would could have been the cause of stuff like that, same with other mysterious deaths and incidents. Especially among more known people in the world. I will always feel like the government has something to with some of the stuff like this, but who knows.

i'm a sucker for this kind of stuff too.  same with cold case files, which kind of links.   i watch that show Diasppeared a lot.  anyone see that?

in some cases it's just too weird, where there's hardly any logical explanation.  those are the most fascinating.  some of them though you know that they were probably killed and are buried under ground somewhere or in some dungeon.

that's what freaks me out.  every time they catch someone who has someone trapped in a dungeon it makes me think of all the people out there who aren't getting caught

Thanks for the documentary. I finnish exams on Wednesday, and I'll watch it then!

Being from Melbourne, we had family friends all over Australia, a lot in small towns, and even when I was younger I always felt creeped out. The movie was incredible. The movie stayed with me for quite some time after. Theres one scene in particular, where it's just, yeah. You know what I'm talking about.

A lot of fucked up shit has gone down in Adelaide in particular, hah.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Min_Min_light
http://funwriters.net/phpBB/index.php?topic=557.0

while this is verging into supernatural its still very very interesting.

Pilliga. Its a road through a forest in New South Wales where apparently lot of weird things happen. Floating lights, a creepy old woman walking around named the "pilliga princess" and more. It has such a reputation that truck drivers try to avoid it at night let alone stop there. If they're on the verge of sleep and need to pull over for a bit of shut eye, they wont. they continue driving no matter what. make sure you listen to the phone call at the bottom of the first link. it sent a shiver up my spine. the x files "i want to believe" in me wants it to be true. but the skeptic in me believes it to have logical explanations.

P.S. while i listening to the phone call in the link my own phone rang in front of me and scared the shit out of me. hahahaha i jumped a mile.

I've seen the Earhart one. But the article above still doesn't fully explain what happened with the Dyatlov pass incident. I mean yeah, of course if those people were in that weather with minimum clothing hypothermia would definitely have an effect. What about the woman with her tongue cut off, or the chest fractures to the point where a human could not do that type of damage. If some things still haven't been released about that then i'm sure it's something we shouldn't know about.

I've spent the last three months or so reading up on/being obsessed with serial killers. My girlfriend is starting to get weirded out, she gets bummed when I try to rent more documentaries or buy more books on the subject.

H.H. Holmes is one of the craziest stories ever. He built an ever growing hotel in the heart of Chicago with booby traps and tons of fake rooms, each with their own specific use for killing. Wikipedia for a start, but it leaves out so much. His story is stranger than fiction, for sure.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._H._Holmes

Also, I rented a "documentary" called 'Greenriver Killer" about Gary Ridgway a few days ago, and it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen. 30% real video interviews with Ridgway, 70% horrible reenactments of his murders. The majority of the reenactments were softcore porn. There was literally nothing else to it. Unsolved mysteries style porn, and cut to him talking. No narrator, no context, no explanations, nothing. Tits and a psycho talking.

The fractured chests can be explained by an avalanche occurring or wild animals roughing up the bodies. That would also explain why there was little to no bruising (aside from it being freezing out) because dead bodies won't bruise. And that woman's tongue wasn't cut out. No account says that. It says it was missing, which can also be explained by scavengers. As for information that hasn't been released yet, that can probably be accounted for the fact that the information was taken down in Soviet Russia--a government not well-known for releasing documents. Or the fact that after 50, 60 years, information on a group of dead skiers would be destroyed. I'm all for weird/unexplained/paranormal type shit, but not enough to just blatantly ignore plausible explanations that account for almost all of the facts.

Dank thread yo.
My brother studied criminology and psychology at university for three years, I too have always found serial killers and unexplained phenomena to be of a certain interest. He and I spent some serious bro time learning about fascinating shit and crazy motherfuckers. He had lots of books from school that were particularly intriguing, my brother and I would read this shit like bedtime stories. Fuck if only he would skate with me!

I need to refer to said books to remember more names, but didn't ever forget this dude...
