I've never been a fan of shaped boards, but the last deck I set up was a square nose/tail 8.8 (at widest).  I ended up absolutely loving the thing.  I've seen some guys here and there that shred on shaped boards (i.e. Grant Taylor, Matt Rodriquez, Drehobl, etc...) and more recently I watched that Carlos Young clip

A Day In The Bay With Carlos Young

and that guy was shredding on a sick looking shaped board.  Even Pontus is planning on releasing some shaped decks http://insearchofthemiraculous.se/2011/11/p2-shape-bipolar-check-it-out/  Anyone else skate a shaped board as a regular everyday board (non cruiser)?

I'm sticking with popsicle sticks, but back in the day these were hot:

haven't skated a popsicle for the last 18 months - 2 years

Had a couple of Anti Hero's, Black Labels, Big Mess, Death Zarosh and a ZigZagger.

It helps that I only skate 8.75 - 9.25 boards (and I'm totally not tech, or any good at skating) I think, as finding anything under 8.5 is pretty tricky

I had a few popsicles but they just didn't feel right under my feet (probably due to being a late 80's kid at heart)

I might cut a used deck down before it's dead and see how it goes. I don't really go much bigger than 8.125 and I find most shaped boards are over 8.5. That's too much for me to handle for me to skate like I would normally.

Here's B.A. getting nuts on a shaped board:

I'm thinking about ordering a Welcome for my next deck, their shapes look fun. I've only ever ridden popsicles though, so I'm a little apprehensive.

the term "shaped boards" implies that there are people riding unshaped boards.
just sayin, nevermind.

I feel like there's definetly a lack of shaped boards that are around like an 8.25 or maybe a little bigger.  I actually just ordered a couple uncut blanks to see if I could do something for myself.

I love Welcome's decks. The shapes are rad and the graphics are so gnarly. Plus, they have Mango on the team!

http://skatepaige.com/  I got two uncut drilled boards for like $40 with shipping.  There even cheaper without being drilled and then you'd have some freedom with the wheel base.

I've never really ridden a shaped board, but I might try one eventually. I got a deck from Five Points recently but went with a big popsicle deck instead of one of the shaped decks that most of his customers probably order. The next deck I buy will probably be something that looks sorta like an early 90s football shaped deck or the Grosso shape.
