If this is true then I'd say Carter and Co. have talked to him already. Maybe they even wanted it. You never know if Burton started trying to push things a direction they didn't want and AWS started looking at a way out.

May seem like a little thing, but it hurt the soul of the company.
Call me a kook, but I believe all skateboard companies should be owned by skateboarders.
Rob may have done some bitch ass shit to get his money, but I'm glad to see he's finally putting it to good use.
Im not sure how burton has anything to do with that ive been to there place in vermont and it has tons of stuff to skate including a half pipe pretty sick actually

I can't remember the video but it was where Rob was talking about another riders contract and he hooked him up. They were all super young and piling out in a hotel room at the time.
He's backed his sponsors since day one, builds free parks, etc. It seems anytime he's mentioned, he's doing something good for skateboarding and his friends. Can't hate on that.

The only time I ever dropped in on a legit vert ramp was the one behind Burton in Burlington, VT. No pads, no helmet. MAN, I'm glad I didn't fall.

dyrdek's corny, but he's business savvy. he knows the current workshop image is a huge thing and he's way too smart to fuck with that.

If this somehow resulted in Workshop going back to what it was like 18 years ago then I'd be stoked. That probably won't happen so most skaters will continue to not give a shit, groms will keep eating their stuff up, and nobody who isn't closely connected with the company will notice any change.
I'd love to see the brand resurrected and be as sick as it used to be. Probably more likely just be the same thing as now but the money will be routed to a different bank account.

I think it would be a good move for Dyrdek. I'm confident that he'd leave it alone. Those dudes brought him over from G&S. I doubt he tried to fuck with company when he had the clout to do so. I don't think he would mess with if it were his. He knows its customers aren't down for Monster-MTV-Y&R crossover shit. But then again if Burton is willing to part with DNA, then maybe its not doing so well for them.

Jesus, do you really hate Bobby D that much? I remember talking with Fred Gall round 94-95ish and Rob was his favorite dude at the time. *sorry, just had to put that in there for the brown pants of the world*. If anybody is going to make money in this business I'd hate to think it wasn't a skateboarder. He can be a bit kooky, but he has good intentions and is as brand loyal as Steve Cab.

imagine AWS boards touching rouge status & young and wrecckless gear . .
. . .
oh god I'm going to puke!
seriously though have any of you looked at the AWS catalog? There's like 4 or 5 pages of GOOD aws product (which is only decks) and the rest is absolute dyrdek doo doo, reflex crap, and some pretty horrid clothing that looks like it's on its way to target. IMO Dyrdek could easily ruin the only good part of alien that is left, or I guess he could "better" it somehow in between shootings of tosh 2.0
the only way I could see this working out for the better is if he buys DNA (financial difficulties solved?) and leaves AWS alone

Of course Dill should be president...

So does this mean Habitat also? cuz according to Kalis neither he nor Dyrdek are fond of that brand. I also see Habitat fitting more into Burtons scheme with the shoe team and how generic Element 2.0 it has become.

i think(hope) it'll be a good thing. i'm assuming he'd be pretty hands off and it would probably stay the way it is now, but he'd be less likely to bail on the company if it started making less money

Well everything Rob Dyrdek does removes skateboarding more and more from anything I relate too. Closer to big league football/basket etc etc. Fuck him. I do not trust him with running anything, AWS is probably taking a turn for the worse.
I sincerely wish that skateboarding was not able to make anyone rich.
^ you definitely wouldn't be saying that if you were in his position. I dont see the point in hating on someone for making money, At least hes not making scooters like shaun white.
And about the whole him being a bubble thing His net worth is about 45 million dollars and he makes 30,000 for each episode of fantasy factory.
The dude is set for life and now he has ridiculousness to boot. I dont see this "bubble" popping anytime soon.

sometimes he's funny, sometimes unwatchable. but he's always done a lot for skateboarders.
never understood this mentality that if you can flip a board decently, you're not allowed to do anything else with your life.

I suspect Burton wants to sell it off. and I would like to think that Dyrdek is a much better option than some mega corpo shit swooping in like say Marc Ecko, Timberland, or Billabong.
