Pretty sure they gave him local anesthesia, it's mandatory to avoid reflex leg movement while under surgery.
It's still gnarly laying there on the table and hearing what they are doing to your leg.

Went to the screening today.
The film shows a very private side actually, quite a few tender moments.
Unfortunately the blue ray got scratched and stopped shortly before the end ( before the jump over the big wall )
Needless to say Danny was really pissed and apologized and so on. But I think everybody was fucking stoked none the less. Go see it. I am pretty sure you'll like it.
I got pumped to go skate.
