I do this shit to when I skate switch, and on FS shuvs, varial heels, hardflips and impossibles. I need that extra little pop on those

Does it really give you more pop, though, or is it just in your head? I would think that if it really did give you more pop, then everyone would be doing it.

for me, it has mostly to do with my trucks. my back truck is tighter than my front truck, so im pretty picky about which way my board is facing. i pop off the tail for regular and fakie, and the nose for nollie and switch. when i do a trick where the board spins 180 under me (hardflip, bs bigspin...) i pop off the nose so the board ends up under my feet the "right way", especially down gaps and stuff. it's probably all mental, but i feel like i'm more "stable" and have better board control with that tighter truck under my right foot and the slightly looser truck under my left foot, no matter what direction i'm rolling.

I too skate backwards, learned it wrong and now I'm used to it. Skating the normal way feels weird. I really had the worst group of friends to start skating with, since we all skated backwards and pushed mongo

I only pop with the tail when I skate regular, switch, nollie and even fakie I pop with the nose.
This summer I gonna start skate fakie with my tail, but it's gonna be hard after 14 years.

I flip flop when it comes to fakie, it really depends what I'm doing. I pop fakie off the tail for tricks like fakie nosegrind or half cab crooks, but a lot of fakie flip tricks I pop off the nose...

Yeah, I pop with my tail when I do switch nosegrinds and crooks. But for a switch 5-0 I pop with the nose.
