Shoes are becoming more functional with every coming season.
Simple designs with more innovative materials. Finding ways to maximize boardfeel, support and durability.
I always see that unwavering nostalgia for shoes of yore, but I remember vividly how poorly made most were.
Icy soles, hard materials and awkward colorways. All those things still happen but at least it's less frequent.
Shoes like the 1/2 cab, superstar, chuck taylor,dunk,blazer,sk8 hi,era will always be around. They're timeless and functional. The companies keep tinkering with them and are getting closer to making them better.
And with all the new insole companies it's easy to upgrade any shoe.
I agree with everything said right here. the timeless shoes gon last and the new kicks are just gonna be more efficient & effective overall. like tech shoes but some of those older ones are fucking hideous. im sure they made sense back in the day but goddamn do you really need 1000 different seams on the side of your shoe? they look like those bogish ass new balance joints you be seein at kohl's n shit. real talk tho the skytop 3 is wear its at. the toe shape is perfect, has excellent heel/ankle support, they're durable and not to mention if you dont skate em for a while and keep em clean the hoes gon' swarm yo shit at the local house parties. seriously, it does everything you need it to. another timeless shoe to go aside the half-cabs & dunks.

Not quite.
I remember the day I bought those things.
I got those shoes and some black swishy pants and couldn't wait to wear that shit at the club later. ("yo! ladies)
Aww man, what the fuck was I thinking?

There needs to be more skate shoes that use straps instead of laces. DC made a pair about 10 years ago that were ugly as hell (like most of their shoes) and one of the Team Handsome doods had some retarded dress shoes made, but a decent looking pair of laceless skate shoes is yet to happen. Think about it: no laces to rip in the first place. Seems like a no-brainer.

Thanks for posting that Muska ad! I remember looking at the same one getting so hyped on them and when I finally got them I skated them to death. I even have a pic of myself somewhere with those skating a Heath Kirchart Birdhouse board.

I hate when people on here say to bring back shoes like those Muskas up there, it would feel nearly impossible to skate those now.

I like that Muska was behind the design of both those shoes.
I reminiscence most about my Koston 2's.

for real? How much do they have Stevies DC shoe for? If they have a pair in a 12 then I'm jumping on that.

I don't know why, but when I was like in Grade 5, I really wanted Circa's that had the straps on them.... now I realized they looked dumb as fuck and pointless.
