This little lady is gonna be mailed to Humidity SkateShop in New Orleans, where the Map Masqueraders will pick it up.
I didn't know this at the time of making the graphic, but the fact that they'll pick it up there, makes the color scheme and over the top rhinestone settings seem all the more fitting.

Whats up all. Trying to use the next half hour of free time to check in and keep the hype going for the Masquerade. We just made it to our halfway mark, Austin Texas. The weather is great, the live music is lively, and the street food is delicious. Texas has been really fun so far, and Dallas is now one of my favorite cities for skateing. Downtown Dallas at night is up there with Midtown NY in my eyes. Want to first say thanks for all the support from the forum and anyone whos spreading the word, and talking about the tour. I wanted this tour to be an oportunity to meet skaters from different communities across the country, and recognize the connection and links that we all have to eachother. It has become pretty evident that we are all in similar circles and there are friends/ relatives/ friends of friends, and generally good people in every city that can help. That connection is really important to me, as it has led me from a 12 year old camper at woodward from a small town, to the career and lifestyle that i enjoy today. I hope that even with all the grey internet space between kids of the newer generation that that aspect of skateing will continue to grow, and skaters can support eachother and find time to explore their cities and surrounding communities with a keen eye and an open mind. skateboarding isnt about gaining hundreds of thousands of views, getting a sunglass sponsor, or one day making it to an all exclusive, dramatically lite skatepark in Los Angeles. Its about you, your friends, and your creativity. So THanks to anyone who recognizes that and has helped promote this tour and the ideas within in their respective cities. now:

Nosferatu: Your right, I have made a few "mistakes" in the social media department. I am not too familiar with it and dont plan on using it for my personal life or career. and your also right, sadly, kids today dont read very much. But they do catch on quick to new ideas, and the whole point of this tour is to bridge social media into a social life. I may not be reaching the masses, but even if a few kids get together with their friends and try to follow us for a few days, its worked in my eyes.

velocirapedher: Happy Valley! wow im sure your as glad as i was to get out of that place, but still, its nice to meet another State College Local who skates. they were very hard to find when i was young. Were you around during the Station x/ bacon the law days? If i had to say a favorite single spot, i would have to go with the prospect ledges..on prospect st dowtown. They are the only bust free ledges in town, and i usually start the day there when im back home..

Elijah Chandler: your right i dont have one of those. but slap was nice enough to load our caravan with product before this trip, and i did get a gonz angel t shirt out of it...as far as the transition from chapman to alien, it was a fairly dramatic one. i cant get into the whole story now, but anytime you have to leave a sponsor, or seperate yourself from an individual who has helped you it can be tough. ill explain that transition in more detail when ive got the time.

pica: It doesnt feel very good. one time at an airport in europe Jack Johnson was on the same flight as me. we were on a gravis trip and the tm mark oblow knows him pretty well. they had a cordial meet and greet and i was able to look the man in the eyes who had done me so much injustice. the words at the top of the google search kept going through my head over and over, " did you mean Jack Johnson?" "did you mean Jack Johnson?" i took his guitar, spat in his face, and stepped on his overly exposed toes....haha no but really he was wearing flip flops and had a guitar slung hipply across his back..love songs are overrated

pandarelated: You heard right, i do wear only cupsole shoes, due to a problem called plantar fasciitis. It started to affect me when i was about 17, probably because i grew really fast, and ive been dealign with it on and off ever since. Its an inflamation of the fascia( ligaments that run across the bottom of your foot) in which pockets of fluid build between the fascia and bone. feels like a heel bruise that can come and go as it pleases, and i can get them from skateing flat if i stomp the ground too hard. i was wearing a vulc shoe from adidas called the classic vulc for early the entire filming of mindfield, and that was my first and last bought with vulc shoes. i def enjoyed the board control percs, but my feet were in pain the whole time and while i was able to film alot of hard single tricks, my overall enjoyment of skateing was taking a downturn. after going back to cupsole shoes, i dont think i will ever go back to vulc. i think the industry has jumped on the vulc bandwagon, and alot of skaters are in denial about the negative impact of vulc shoes on their foot health. I think that trends run in circles and we will start seeing alot more cupsole shoes and enthusiasts in the next few years. I know i will be one of them. at the moment gravis has to make the viking shoe for me specially from the factory in china. ive been trying to help design a cupsole shoe with them for some time now. I think arto has just started designing a new one, and if i ever get a chance to design a shoe it will be cupsole..who knows it may even have an air bubble or two...

Rocuronium: I definitely simpathize with your request for some more non traditional cities. To tell you the truth i would rather be going to backwoods towns and untouched cities, and i will be doing alot of touring on my own that will focus on those places..but with a crew this big, and with a contest that needs involvement from the public, i figured it would be better to hit some bigger cities. plus i havent been to half of the places we are going too, so its all new to me. sorry to dissapoint.

sfa: yes that is al davis. he is one of my favorite skaters too

Ronald Wilson Reagan: Thanks alot brother. Im sure i will pile out some day, as old age and degrading health is inevidable, but i will never quit skating. We shall see what direction the industry goes, but if theres people out there supporting what i do i will always put my all into my parts and coverage.  Also i wish brian downey was on tour with us but hes buisy working back in sf. he is amazing at everything he does. check out his brand Falcon Bowse in your spare time. he makes belts, clothes, wallets, wax, and is even branching into home decour..

iwishilivedinfinland: your welcome. return the favor and pass it along!

Andrew: The new mexico cache has unfortunately gone missing....WE ran into a few problems at the site, and in a rush i made a mistake by not putting my contact info into the cache...We had a contestant make his way to the site, but since we had left the product there over a day before, and because it was on someones private property, we think it may have gotten taken...its a learning process, but we are go ing to compensate the contesant anyways, and premier the vegas clip that was hiding in the cache, hopefully sometime today.. Ive got a national parks ranger asking around the area to see if any neighbors picked up the prize, but it may be gone forever. the cache was hidden at the quarai ruins of the salinas national parks. the park ranger wouldnt let us leave it in his little booth because he wasnt the manager, but he like our idea and encouraged us to put it near the ruins on someones property. he claimed that the guy didnt come around too often, but it seems like he may have spotted the balloons and searched the area..sometimes things fall into place, sometimes they dont. thats another theme of this trip, being at the right place at the right time is not always possible,, but your still at a place, and thats what matters! ill try my best to secure the next caches, so dont stop looking, and remember, if you find us while we are skating, we will give you product, and maybe even buy you a beer. Weve had kids track us down in each city and that has been one of the coolest aspects of the tour to me.

well, hope you all enjoy the Vegas Masquerade, and if your in Austin, come out and skate!
peace,

jj

also a special thanks to sweatercuff for making us an amazing piece of original art. im gonna hang that board on my wall! this tour is about collaborating with individuals and inspiring artistic vision. sweatercuff got the message!

don't you dare hang that board on your wall!
Atleast not until you all get to take it for a spin.
I don't make my boards to just be looked at. The skating done on them is a part of the piece (and the fun).

Jake looks like he skates really loose trucks. Like after he dropped in on that escalator or that Gravis commercial with the switch back 180 into the super sketchy bank and then into the street. Is this true Jake Johnson?

If your going to be answering questions periodically there's something I've been wondering. Based on the graphics on the boards you've skated in photos it looks as though you ride an 8 inch deck. I'm 6'4 and have big feet as well and have always had to buy 8 3/8s to 8.5 decks to get ones that were over 32' long. Anything shorter feels weird. Do you get a custom shape made by the workshop or do you just prefer a smaller board? Kind of a stupid question but I was just curious.

DON'T NOBODY GET THIS SHIT BEFORE I DO.

Got a two hour drive ahead of me. If you find it before I do, at least leave me a board or two. Or three, since I'm going with two of my friends.
