If anyone else is planning on a Peru trip and is scoping this thread, there is a town in the north called Trujillo (I think that's the right one) that has a ridiculous amount of ditches due to some past flooding problems.  Also take a flight over the Nazca lines, south of Lima; it's one thing to hear about these weird designs in the desert and another to see them from above and have your mind completely blown.  Hope you had a good trip Jeremy.
