Quitting smoking thread (non weed)

I quit about 5 months ago, found a store in my area that stocks Swedish Snus. After mountains of internet research found it to be a suitable "comer down effect" tried gum, patches, flavored tooth picks, etc. But found much comfort in the snus, loosing teeth vs replacement lung/parts sounds better. Anyhow, what about you fellas? Stories? Advice? Good will?
I rock this shit currently in my pursuit to stop inhaling most smoke, minus weed ( burn it like a chimney, but bought a portable launch box vape recently )
I rock this stuff:
plus the varieties of mint, wintergreen, what have you. Swedish head's, whats your take?
Plus started monitoring my diet and getting back to being mildly fit.

i know this is for cigarettes but a nigga aint hit the kush in about 3 days. a personal victory indeed.
my moms tryna stop smoking again (she quit for a few years then got back on) and she be on that eCigarette shit. i guess theres no tar n whatever other bullshit they got in squares but it still has the nicotine to help with quitting i guess. personally i feel like cigarettes are some shit that just shouldnt even be fucked with to begin with. i know its super addictive and that lil buzz just aint worth it w/ all the negative things it does to your health. good for you tho tryna quit, i know its prolly hard as fuck but itll be worth it once youre completely off that shit.

I've not smoked for years. The only trick was to not drink and go to bars for 2 weeks. After that I was fine. It's really a mental thing. If you want to quit, like legitimately WANT to quit- you can. Cold turkey too. The only way to go.

making it past the 3 day mark is key. day 4 and the cloud lifts and it's pretty easy after that, if you can make it past that point. then it only gets easier. i've been quit for 4 years now.
everything is a personal choice but smoking is bullshit. i'm so glad i finally got rid of that from my life
it's a son of a bitch. i do admit, occasionally, when the time is just right i get tempted but i know i'll just spiral down to buying a pack a day again. not worth it

I've been on e-cigs for almost a year. I might dip some Skoal long cut or Copenhagen mid cut if I'm out in the woods hunting or driving across country (or even a few states away, depending on the travel time). I've dipped on and off since I was a little kid though. Oddly enough, even though it has more nic I've always been able to drop it even when it was a routine.
My pinch is also about a half a can.

Yea that seems like the key. I went 10 days last time I tried...if I start to feel healthier I just start to smoke again. I instantly feel shitty again and I end up topping it off by chain smoking the next weekend. I'll get there.

the first time I tried to quit smoking cigarettes, I just smoked myself silly on weed so that I was high all the time and didn't feel like I needed cigarettes. that worked for about a month, and then I got tired of being high, which is the worst thing ever. The next time, I just quit cold turkey. I haven't had a cigarette in 6 months. It really is a mental thing.

I've just submitted to the fact that I am in fact a smoker. Some day I'll quit. The only withdrawal I get is that I get all moody.

I've always been a pack a day smoker but I can feel the time is coming that I'm over it, especially for my health and well being. Walking up some stairs to only be out of breath every time is not the best feeling.

this shit works. no matter how much you smoke. just read it all, and once you finish the book you'll soon have a revelation and never want to smoke again.

using the patch or any other nicotine product to help quit smoking will make it harder in the long run.
the best way is cold turkey. the idea is to have your body used to not being dependent on nicotine. it takes about a full year to forget why you even smoked. everyone is different tho
theres an app called quitter. shows how many days since your last cigarette and how much money you've saved. depending where you live and how much you smoke varies how much money you save.
i saved close to 3k the first year

It really is a mental thing more than anything. I quit in 2006 after 13 years of pack a day stupidity. The final year of inhaling bullshit I was sick of every cigarette I smoked and I only smoked at work (didn't have the urge elsewhere).
Two months ago, I quit drinking even though there is still booze in my living quarters.
A few weeks ago, I quit eating wheat products.
Five days ago, I decided to go vegetarian.

Just read a synopsis on this book. The guy smoked 100 cigarettes a day. How in the hell is that even possible?! Smoking had to be his full time job more or less.

my grandfather's the only one out of my extended family, 10 or 15 of us who ever smoked. he smoked for 40some years, quit for 10. then decided he had made to 80 years old with smoking so much, so it wasn't gonna hurt and he started again 4 or 5 years ago. still alive.

I'm from Sweden and I've been doing snus since I was 16 (turning 25 this year). Of course it's healthier, but getting of snus is a tougher challenge than quit smoking. I think one portion of snus equals 2-6 cigarettes (nicotine).
I want to quit doing snus, and I have been trying for the last 5 years. When I quit I start to smoke at the weekends when I'm drinking and I smoke like a packet. I snus General to and I fucking love it. It's so damn hard when you love the taste so damn much.
When you're off the stuff, the hardest thing is when you take 1-2 beers. Then the abstinence comes crawling big time.
Right now I'm only doing snus after the work hours and on the weekends. I don't really have the motivation to quit right now, but one thing that helps is getting a girlfriend.

A girlfriend using a blowjob reward system is the easiest way to quit. I actually think that the graphic photos on packs would work for me. I know it would upset a lot of people but seeing that shit at the time really makes me want to reconsider. Kind of like if a slag told you that she had an STD before you were about to have sex with her. Anyway I bought an electronic cigarette on sunday and I'm hoping to be done with smoking before the end of April.

smoking isn't really a big deal for me. I can usually smoke for weeks (finals, drinking benders) and stop for weeks or longer. It's never been a long standing habit. I enjoy smoking but i enjoy lung capacity more, you know?
I recently started hanging out with a girl who is a heavy smoker though and i find myself smoking more. It kind of sucks.
