I grew up playing soccer myself, and was quite talented. But I decided to quit to skate instead when I was about 15 or something, so I can relate to this. But I still watch matches every now and then, and I play indoor soccer once a week during the winter.
I really enjoyed reading this!

soccer is an amazing sport. people have always been confused by the fact that i would roll to class on my skateboard, but at the same time be a huge soccer fan, it's like most people refuse to believe that skaters can also like soccer. hell, i would roll up to soccer games on my board, and switch into my soccer boots. even in a lot of skate footage of my self i just happen to be wearing barca jerseys and shit. there is no reason why you gotta like pick skateboarding and look down on organized sports. they are both amazing.

and in terms of a work out, as rowley said, 90 minutes of soccer in a full sized pitch is one HELL of a workout. plus the fact that soccer is also a lot about footwork, i feel like soccer and skateboarding actually compliment each other in a lot of ways. specially freestyle soccer tricks, same idea as skating really.
