I think the mega ramp really opened up tricks like this.  I wonder how many of the people doing 900s could do them in 14 ft vert ramps like how tony did them for years.

The 1080 was sick, but to me this shows where skateboarding is going wrong. A 12 year old at the megaramp has obviously been training like an olympic athlete and getting all sorts of access to crazy ramps. 12 year old skateboarders are supposed to be street rats, whether its in the olympics or not, shit like this makes me think skateboarding is becoming like gymnastics or figure skating, with the top contenders being trained for competition their whole lives.

I mean, good for the kid, I've got no hate on him personally, but it shows a real weird cultural shift in skateboarding.

Also, yes, if Tony wasn't in his 40's and was able to skate a mega regularly like these kids he would have been doing 1260's 5 years ago, and a regular vert ramp is about 11-12 feet tall, 14 would even be big.

I think we are safe.  Where I am at there is no shortage of little groms bouncing around in full pads with shit eating grins poking out from under their ill fitting helmets and not a care in the world.  In my opinion the mega ramp has always been a little pocket of insanity that I think most people can appreciate but don't necessarily relate to or have any desire to do themselves.
