Funny curb story, in the town I grew up in Ohio we waxed up a long double sided curb that sloped down on the end so you could just ride into grinds. It was across the street from our local newspaper "The Evening Independent" so we called it the Indy curb. Skaters in the next town over thought we named it after the trucks so they called their local curb the Thunder curb after the trucks, we laughed about that one for years!!

skated with the alva team back in the 80s and those guys were slappying raw curbs with no paint. it was unbelievable. i still to this day have no idea how they managed that. we were all doing street plants and early grabs off launch ramps and they were charging raw curbs and doing the longest slappies. change the way i skated.

but yeah, curbs are rad. there's an amazing old school curb setup behind this job i just quite. i've been dying to go but now it'd be super awkward if someone saw me.

Which Alva boyz were doing that?

I recently waxed a curb to skatebality a few blocks from my house. Its nice being secluded with your thoughts and a slappy.

Love curbs.  My main spot growing up was a super low insanely waxed curb.  The drill was to roll at it, throw whatever the hot impossible variation, pressure flip or other gross flip trick of the day was and see how you landed.  The curb was so waxed anything would slide.  The tricks were so wacky and out of control you never knew if you'd get 50, 50-50, lipslide, etc.  Fun times.  Also love bank to curbs/low ledges.

What kind of people don't skate curbs in a nice smooth parking lot and throw in some islands for mannies or ollieing and the fun is endless.

Curbs are a tricky thing in England you have to get them waxed before the weather gets to them, but there is one side of the street near my local railway station that has a rubber curb. It needs no wax, sadly I 'm the only person who has ever skated it and the only slappier in town person who can slappy. Really want to get my switch slappies at speed again.
