i can understand the confusion, but the differences between the two are enormous.

I'm pretty sure a good percentage of consumers don't know where they're buying their shit from.  Sure people on SLAP might know, but does the average skateboarder know?  

It's only misleading for people who don't have prior knowledge that emerica shoes are made in China.  If "emerica" is a skateboard company, then wouldn't it make more sense to just put "made by emerica"?  

"made in emerica" just seems like an easy to way to take advantage of people who just simply don't know.

you know there's a difference between being misled by something, and simply recognizing that something is misleading? considering that the demographic emerica targets is largely composed of fucking idiots that can't find their own country on a map, i'm sure a lot of them would interpret that statement to mean that the shoes themselves were made in america. so while i agree with you that you have to be an idiot to be mislead by it, you're a fucking naive moron if you cannot see how it is a misleading statement.
