I would also like some tips on this.
Is it true that you gotta hit your knee to get them high?

Find a skater over 30, he'll show you
Seriously, that is probably the easiest. You do it all in one motion, scoop it around. Sorry, that's the best i could give you right now - im tired and got a cold, plus it's very late/early in the morning here.
They are hella fun! Learn them.
Edit: feels like your foot - the one that never leaves the board during the trick - is attached to your board (which it almost is), while the other foot takes a quick step on the ground. You sweep it around. Don't know if that's anymore help. Explaining skateboard tricks are not easy.

I am still working on these myself, but I think I have learned a couple things that could help you. The ones that have worked properly for me are usually a combination of your back foot sliding up the board like your front foot would for an ollie, and then lightly hitting the board with your knee. So basically your foot stops the board from going too far back, and your knee just gives it a little push forward as you jump back on.
A good way to get better at the foot sliding motion and popping is to practice them standing still at first. What I would do is just try a bunch whenever I was waiting for the bus, and after awhile you get more comfortable with it.
I have only done a few so far I would consider legit, but I'm starting to understand how it all works. Oh another thing that helped me is doing them over parking curbs, it is way easier and helps you get used to the feeling, it especially helped me with jumping back on properly.
Hope that helps!

Anyone know the trick to doing hairy balls, backside 180 no complies. Haven't seen it done since forever. Most no complies, your front foot comes off like a kickflip. I think on backside ones your front foot comes of like a heelflip, then goes in between your legs.

Yep, that's exactly it. Here's my advice on them from another thread.

NOW, for the b/s 180 no comply, I actually couldn't do these until after I learned how to do b/s 360 no complys. It's basically the same philosophy as the f/s 180 no comply, except you have your front toes hanging off the board, your back foot is slightly further from the pocket, and you have to step forward a little more. Again, make sure to step far enough away from the board so it can turn completely. If you just want to do 180, you don't have to turn your shoulders as much as you'd think. Turning your shoulders will cause your board to go 270-ish, but then you can pivot the rest of the 360 and boom! For me, the b/s 180 feels more like a "pop and jump" then the f/s 180's "scoop and turn." This is really hard to describe if you can't do the b/s 360 no comply, so I would definitely suggest getting an idea of how to do those.

I actually got a couple of straight no complies today. You have to put your foot really high up, like over the front bolts of your front truck. Make sure your shoulders are parallel with the board and you're leaning forward just a little bit (this worked for me, but maybe not for everyone). Then when you step off, pop your tail really hard and let the board fly up towards your knee. Bend your back leg in a little, almost like the back leg looks for a tuck knee (how I visualize it--leaning forward makes this a lot easier). This pushes the board forward to level out. As the board starts to level out and come down, jump and land on it. I tended to land with my back wheels hitting first, like hitting my tail and then my nose coming down half a second later, but I assume this will go away as I get more comfortable with them.

Put more of your foot on the tail maybe? If your heel or toes are hanging off to much, then there's nothing to keep the board flat. That's how I fixed it when it was happening to me.

For straight on no complies, you have to put your front foot down and really smack the board into your knee/thigh in one quick, fluid motion. If your thigh is bruised, you probably did it right.

There is more Bieber coverage on Slap than one would expect from a bunch of manboys arguing the minutiae of rollerboard stunts. Actually now that I type that it kinda makes sense.

Gravette gets a sequence of backside 360 no comply in the new Transworld, at that one ditch by the LA river. Fucking gnarly. Still working on mine, one day. Any one know any good videos that show backside no complies, 180 or360 doesn't matter.

I think what's key is you put your back foot almost on your bolts....in the pocket....it's a quick and small pop....then concentrate on swinging your shoulders....

I learned to pop "normal" no-complies by doing them off of curbs and what not. then i took em' to flat and over stuff. However parking blocks help to get the motions down with haste.
Learn from the best!why not?

For straight no-complies, you have to let the board hit your thigh while going up.
Seems pretty scary at first, and it will leave a bruise after a while, but hang in there!
As soon as you pop the tail, bend your knee inwards so it meets the nose while it's coming up.
I'm norwegian and my english is kinda weak, but I hope that made sense.

What's the trick to doing them up curbs?
Do you plant on the edge of the curb and blast up/small-wallie or is your foot best in the gutter?

foot on the curb, try and get the tail or wheels to smack the gutter and it should pop up to your feet. if you kick your back foot away from you you can then do no comply flips!

I put my foot on the curb and basically let the curb do the evening out instead of my knee. It usually works out that way. I leaned how to do them this way before doing it without the curb. It's good practice.
