he cant get mad at these "robots" for being consistent in contests. its a competitive atmosphere and theres money on the line, dont get mad cuz YOU cant bring yo A-game when its needed the most. he needa get put on that kobe system.

but on the real tho it was a good read. dude has one of the best styles in the game and knows how to pop his tricks. i fucks with dylan reider.

real skateboarding isn't about a point system, normally there is no incentive for action based rewards. Skateboarders couldn't give less of a fuck if you look like a kook while landing tricks - it's not the same mentality as the NBA or NFL. With that being said I do see your point, not hating on the robot style . . I guess that is just the two sides to the conversation.

its not even about "real skateboarding" its the fact that if you're going to participate in the most lucrative contest in skateboarding history, you better go hard or go home! i dont why the hell he thought shit was sweet when theres hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line. he was clearly venting his frustration at the fact that HE himself lacked consistency during his time at street league. at one point he even got pissed in the middle of the contest & focused his board cuz he wasnt landing his tricks. if he thinks that high-profile contests are lame then that's fine, dont participate in them. all im sayin is that he didnt needa try to hate on these "robot skaters" aka guys like p-rod, nyjah, chris cole, etc.

I didn't read that as hating on those guys. I took it as him just stating the obvious, which is that he's not as a consistent as Cole or Shane O'Neill.

After not really liking Dill for the last 5 or 6 six years or so, I can say now that he has officially won my heart.

seriously though, this interview and his footage in the cinematographers project re-stoked me on him.

Also the fact that Dydrek is calling Dill the pres. and AVE the vice pres. of the workshop is making me really stoked on the direction they're gonna be going in years to come.

Although more of a tranny dawg, I liked his gravis part a lot until I noticed some of the landings had this "and now, the fake steez with the arms" thing, but this interview made me >9000 stoked on Dylan again. Definately worth reading; the non-logo shirts and the Berra thing = awesome.

I have my sketpticism of Berra as well, but I gotta say- about two years ago he sent me a hoodie for pretty much nothing, for coming in 3rd or 4th in one of his silly little trivia things when their site was just starting up.  I didn't even win and he sent me some free shit.

I know it ain't much, but it was one of the coolest things I've ever had a pro do for me.  Most of them are too busy talking about their jaguars, BMWs, stories of model girlfriends, bragging about buying multiple houses & property, etc.  It's so far delusional from the life of the average skate rat like us that actually fuels the industry, and the majority of the new kids take so much of it for granted.  I'll give him a few points for at least trying to give something back at the end of a somewhat charmed career.

I think Berra is genuinely trying to do some good things for skateboarding, he's just failing miserably in some aspects.  But his intentions are good, anyways... whatever that says.

Neither I nor you know what his intentions are. All we know is that he doesn't skate. That's enough information for me.

Very true, Fred.

But what about Dyrdek?  Does he get full pass just because he was able to buy out The Workshop from the MTV/ESPN2 money?  His and Berra's respective parts in "MindField" were each less than 2 mins., and that was the last thing either of them put out anything as far as I know...

Dyrdek still skates. He bs 5-0d that hubba during Street league. And his stage personality , while ridiculous , is not bad in itself.
