I used to think short guys (and kids) had it easier in skateboarding because they had lower centers of gravity. But then it occurred to me that if you were huge, stuff would seem smaller, so maybe it would be less intimidating/easier to skate.

I'm 5'8" and have no idea how really tall guys can control their bodies well enough to ride a skateboard. Scares the shit out of me to imagine having to flail around like one of those inflatable flappy armed things in front of car dealerships. Then again, there are some giant pros out there.

Maybe a pointless thing to think about since you can't change your body, but whatever.

I find that all the shit you just said made me stupider.

However, it seems as those tall people have more power and leverage.

whenever I think of tall and powerful, I just think of Brophy or Duffel. When I watch Brophy skate, it looks like he can get so much pop without even trying.

But then I look at Westgate and I'm like, it doesn't matter.

Andrew Brophy

fuck...where is Brophy???

i've found that skating at 6'3" is harder.  So i've decided to stick with 5' 6".

Im 6'1 and feel like a short guy for some reason, so i've got the best of both worlds. I do prefer the look of  short people to tall people on a skateboard though, I fucking hate lanky style. Can't stand it.

I think in general it's easier to be shorter especially when you start skating to find your center of balance. My theory is that most of the tall guys that kill it get comfortable before they hit their growth spurt. Then once you already got it down you can reapply your skating to your bigger frame. There is old footage of reynolds ripping when he was tiny. I think I read jake johnson talking about a growth spurt somewhere too.

I stupider.

Yes, you are.

I have a buddy I skate with that is 6'+ and I got more pop and skate higher stuff easier than him.  Height does not automatically mean pop.

If you're super short you can walk straight up to a hot chick in a skirt, be at the perfect height and ready to perform cunnilingus.  Easy access, son.

Lollergnar'd!

As for OP's question... way too many variables in skating. It's just too dependent on the individual's natural and learned ability, muscle memory, terrain, skate schedule, and on and on. One of the many things that makes skating magic.

That makes a lot of sense. It seems like it would be harder to learn if you're taller, but if you get it down when you're small and then grow into it I guess it's not a problem.

i find it's easier to be agile, and kinda skinny.

height seems to be a tertiary or non factor, although ideal seems to be somewhere between 5'8 and 6'1.

although tall dudes seem to have an easier time with the 15+ stair territory, naturally.

The one thing that sucks about being tall and skating is that when you fall, you're really going down. Skinny jeans also tend to look moronic on tall people. Having a smooth style can be difficult, but there's skaters like Ron Whaley to prove its possible.

I've heard smaller people can skate vert better because they can spin easier. That's probably why that twelve year old could do that 1080, because he is so small and weightless...

Height doesn't matter. It's really how much weights you lift and squats exercises to increase pop.

I'd wager being short is way easier. People who are taller seem often have better style.

It's all about the size of your balls

you cant go wrong with big ben schroeder

nyjah used to be a tiny shit with no pop at all.
funny enough, figgy has always been a giant and had poorly popped tricks despite his height back in "the beginning"

i think both fucking kill it now,
good for them

^ Best avatar! (biased because I have a cat)

Doesn't matter about your height at all.   You're born with what you got, you learn to deal.  Doesn't Aldrin Garcia (sorry if I misspelled) have the highest ollie. How tall is he?

Unless their mother's gave birth to a 6 foot tall baby, then I think everyone knows what it's like to be short.

Taller people look like the have no sense of balance but actually have the best balance and style. Look at BA, Jake Johnson, Koston, Reynolds etc
