I don't think slap is the place for any serious topic on kinesics / physics unless you're looking for a lot of the wrong answers

Im 6'3 and as skateboarding goes it sucks.  footage of me skating the same spot as someone else makes the spot look so much smaller than someone shorter.  i dont have as much pop as my friends but the skaters who skate the biggest spots tend to be tall (Reynolds, Figgy, etc) so maybe its a good thing for that sort of stuff.

Taller people look like the have no sense of balance but actually have the best balance and style. Look at BA, Jake Johnson, Koston, Reynolds etc

Is Koston that tall?? I always thought of him as a pretty medium sized guy, maybe between 5'8" and 5'10". If he's 6' I'd be surprised.

I'm like 6'5 and yes, is probably harder for me that for someone shorter. When I was a kid I was the tallest of my friends and I was more scared than them cause I knew that if I fell down I would hurt myself more than them. Also, I was a little bitch.

I think board size can make a difference as well. I'm 6'1 and in my imagination if I had 32.5-33" long boards I could probably do the most stylish leg tweaks and all that shit short leg motherfuckers got on lock. That's just my personal opinion though, have yet to find a 33 inch board that's not a gimmick shape and my arms flail exactly like those stupid inflatables.

Me too. I swear whenever I see US dudes talking about shoe sizes it seems like a 10 is big,  but in the u.k a US 10 is average to small

I'm like 6' 2.5" and lanky as fuck and I know these things

1. It's harder to credit card yourself if you have long legs, so that's good.

2. It sucks shit to be tall AND skinny, because clothes shopping is a bitch trying to find long enough sleeves and inseams.

Otherwise, I don't think it affects the skating. Though I do think tall guys should skate longer (at least32") boards because otherwise they look tiny and short and more like a toy.

32.5-33" long boards

Yeah, I'm 6'4" with size 12/13 shoe and always thought if I could get a board that's a little longer it would help me out.  I usually can only find 32" long boards though.

i think its safe to say that most professional skateboarders are short. They can perfectly market their product to the target teenage audience cuz they're all wearing the same sized shit! I've bumped into plenty pro's in my time and was shocked at how tiny alot of these guys are. Brian Anderson and Kenny Hughes however are big dudes.

habitat make a 8.5x33.  and there are plenty of boards that are 32.5 in length. i'm like 5'11 but too skinny with size 10 - 10.5 feet. i won't skate anything under 32.

I am 6'3 and muscular and the only issue i have is weight. Thank god i am not a heavy footer that axes boards and mostly i land gently, however when i am skating gaps my feet and knees get sore fast. Plus i am constantly afraid of boardsliding or lipsliding with a new board .

The blessing is the pop on the other hand. If the average ollie is at the same height as your thighs imagine my thighs are way up than yours. My friends always tell me that i pop everything really high and ask about my secret, but there is no secret i am unable to do something without a big pop.

Personally i prefer watching tall guys skate BA is one of my favorites. If someone is too short like adrian lopez short i find it ugly.

The one thing that sucks about being tall and skating is that when you fall, you're really going down. Skinny jeans also tend to look moronic on tall people. Having a smooth style can be difficult, but there's skaters like Ron Whaley to prove its possible.

yeah i was thinkin about this when i was re wathing the original battle at the berrics.
One match was between Jimmy Cao and Andrew Reynolds.
Jimmy Cao fell abunch of times and while he knew he was fuckin up he seemed completely comfortable with falling.
But it seemed like Reynolds fought more to not fall and to stay on his board, and he didnt fall once during the match.

Hahaha I think maybe Andrew was just trying to win. It was only flat ground, not like an episode of Gullivers Travels or something homie.

yea, statistically speaking, I'm pretty sure most skaters are average height.

I don't think height has any real bearing on who can or cannot become pro.

Kenny Hughes is a giant in person, like huge, and I'm 6'.  It just doesn't make sense how he can skate so well, being that big.
